These are very good.
I bought these to replace some Infiniti reference series 4 x 8 in my 2013 Ford F150. Have some older pioneer a series speakers in my rear doors, I thought the infinities sounded slightly better than the pioneers, but they failed, and were crackling. These new sets of a series speakers by pioneer are phenomenal. They have increased performance, and the highs are amazing. The speakers have very good detail Listening to Alice In Chains’s unplugged MTV album I was hearing things in nutshell I hadn’t heard before. I’ve listened to that song 1 million times. I definitely recommend buying these.

Best upgrade speakers to an OEM system
These speakers have a ridiculous frequency response range and don't require much power at all, making them the perfect replacement for cars with weaker or base audio systems with full range speakers. I put these in my 94 Mazda B4000 (basically a Ford Ranger) with the factory amplified 4 speaker system. Despite the factory system being so weak these speakers really bring the best out of the factory radio and amp. Sound is so crisp and clear you'd think it's an aftermarket system.

Crisp highs with good bass
This is my second pair of this Pioneer speaker line. They sound great with crisp highs that aren’t too bright. And deep bass that’s pretty tight, more like a sealed box sub than a ported sub. Overall for the price point these are really good speakers! It took all of 20 minutes to install both speakers in the front doors of a Ford Ranger. And for the people saying there’s no bass and they sound muffled or distant.Swap the speaker wires they’re backwards!!!

Great sound
Easy to replace the factory speakers. Sound, and volume were vastly improved over the originals that came with the truck.

I REALLY wanted to like these speakers..
...and I do. But they weren't without its issues.I used two sets of the coaxial 6x8s to replace some old Infinitys, and they were amazing. For a short time.Pioneer's off-axis "open & smooth" technology really does make sure the smooth, delightful highs get to your ears. Perfect for the imperfect front door speaker location of my Grand Marquis. But the tweeters blew on the front ones mere minutes after setting gains and turning up the volume, being powered by a Kenwood 60x4 amplifier. On speakers rated "up to" 85 watts.Upon taking them back out, I was able to cleanly remove the fried tweeters and glue in a better set of Pioneer's A-series 3/4" tweeters. Paired them with a 10uf 100v filter cap (to help blend the highs and mids a little better), and WOW, what a difference. The "open & smooth" sound is back, but even more pronounced. And I am now happy again. As long as the rear ones don't blow later down the road...Pioneer changed ownership several years ago, and it shows. The A-series speakers as a concept are great but quality seems to have been compromised in certain areas, like the cheap tweeter that blew, the accompanying 50v 3.3uf cap, and the lack of mounting rings and grilles. Perhaps the big dog A-Series 5-way 6x9s and component speakers are where the quality really is?I've been an audio enthusiast for over twenty years, and Pioneer was always one of those solid brands that could do no wrong. Now? Maybe not so much.Regardless, I still love these speaks. With HPF set at 225 hz and good clean power, my modified 6x8s provide a lot of premium sound for entry-level money. The off-axis highs that somehow still hit your ears directly are like magic. The overall sound is in a league of its own. They sit between Infinity/JBL and Focal: not as harsh as the former, but not as soft as the latter. Very unique and delightful. Just kind of a shame I had to modify them to be where they were initially designed to be.I would still recommend them. Just be wary that this is not the Pioneer quality of old. Maybe either run them off of deck power (which defeats the purpose of installing them) or back off the amp gains just a bit.UPDATE: the tweeters on my rear speakers have begun to die (getting quieter and quieter every day). I will be removing them and retrofitting better tweeters onto them like with the front speakers.UPDATE 2: front passenger's side speaker is now cutting in and out. Ripped out all four of these subpar quality speakers and put in Skar 6x8s. MUCH better. Should have gone with these from the get-go. I will no longer be buying ANYthing Pioneer. Its clear this brand is now but a shadow of what its former Japanese-owned self was 👎Come on, Pioneer 🤦
