DSSPrecision Xtra Blood Glucose Meter Kit, Results in 5 seconds, Strips Not Included (1 Kit)

Replaced an old version of this same meter that was 12 years old and finally died, and wanted the same one since I had a lot of strips leftover.. this works great, love the beep when it has enough blood and the same strips worked perfectly in this one. couldn't be happier!

My GF & I did a week long water fast. It was neat watching our Glucose numbers fall daily as our Ketones went up. She is a nurse and would also test her Glucose at work - very similar numbers to the Precision Xtra. Now we are on a keto diet and check our numbers a couple of times per week. The meter is smaller than I thought, but easy to read. If you don't want to use any of its special features, it is easy to use. Just prep your lancing device, CAREFULLY tear open a test strip (try not to bend it), when you insert the strip into the meter it will turn on automatically, lance your finger, give your finger a little squeeze to allow the end of the test strip to suck up enough blood to fill the tiny reservoir. When the meter beeps, it has enough blood and starts the test. After a few seconds, your number (Glucose, or Ketones) is displayed. Pull the used test strip out, and the meter turns itself off again. This box came with lots of instructions, a small zippered case, and a lancing device. I don't think it came with any test strips or lancets (needles), but I like to get the 33 gauge tiny ones anyway, and it is good to get the fresh test strips. So far, I haven't had any errors. Tip: take care of your test strips and be sure not to bend them too much - it can mess them up.

Accurate reading. I checked the reading against 3 other brands. The difference is just 5 points apart, which is negligible.

My very old Blood Glucose Meter (25+ years) finally died. I had just received a refill of my Rx for Glucose Test Strips and now needed a new meter. Talked to the Pharmacists and was told many meters require different Glucose Test Strips. Found this meter that uses the Strips I have. Meter is smaller than my last one (technology) and is very easy to use. The readings seem accurate and are easy to read. Did have a small problem getting the settings (Date, Time, Etc) in but that was my problem and Customer Service walked me through it quickly. Would recommend.

I just received my Precision Xtra Meter device. The description DID not state that a lancing device and lancets were included. It is nice that they ARE included, BUT because it wasn’t included in the description - I bought a lancing device in advance to be prepared when my Meter arrived. But, now I have 2 lancing devices (these are not returnable items). Luckily the lancing device I bought was only $5, but still a waste.I have this far given the item a 4 star rating, but have not USED the device as of yet.My rating so far is based on the build quality. I like the device has a battery (not a USB powered device). CR2032 battery, which is easy to replace. I’ve also rated the device based on the included lancing device, lancets, and carrying case.The ketone strips I ordered are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. So, I will update my review once I have the opportunity to use the device.UPDATE 5/25/18: The ketone strips arrived, and I’ve thus used the meter. The manual that came with the meter was descriptive, and I was able to set up the meter in a couple of minutes. The manual for the lancing device was also descriptive and straight forward. Took my first reading (yay, ketosis!!). I will update if repeated tests have different experience. So far, I can recommend this specific product (meter with lancing device and lancets).

Life change if you are type 1 diabetic this is must have item!!!!

I bought this to measure my glucose and blood level ketones while on the Ketogenic food plan. So far so good. Comes with a lancet device, so no need to buy one, you will need to buy more lancets and strips, alcohol pads. It comes with a nice little zippered pouch to store the monitor and supplies very neatly and would fit in a purse easily. Has instructions, daily log, warranty, lancet device and instructions for use, about 10 lancets. Very easy to use and to program date and time function, necessary to store data. The strips are a separate purchase and to me expensive, but each strip is foil wrapped so you can carry them with you and no need for a code. It also has a back light fpr the display by pressing a button on the side. I like it.

I bought this to get a better reading on if i am in ketosis. The urine strips aren't as accurate when you become fat adapted. While i'm not a fan of pricking myself, this is the most accurate way. The reading is quick and uses very little blood. Very happy with my purchase
