Poorly constructed, uninspiring press release regurgitation
As an AJG shareholder I was surprised at its poorly constructed storyline. Upon completing it, I don’t understand what purpose this book serves. It fails to be a proud piece of literature documenting the triumph of one immigrant’s conflict to re-shape an industry; it also fails as a propaganda crutch to inspire their company teams to develop unique programs in the risk exchange markets. The reason this narrative doesn’t work for these two objectives is because it never goes far enough into either camp to make any meaningful strides. Finally, there’s a frustrating amount of questionable first hand, unreferenced sources. The book closes regurgitating a boring rhythm of just under one hundred years of corporate press releases. I suppose any public company can have a book, doubt this one will made into a movie.

Excellent read - heart warming true story which I can personally relate as I started our business with my wife in 1985.

Good Read, Clear Intent
This book is the history of Arthur J Gallagher and Gallagher Bassett. It’s a good read, I shot through the first few chapters on accident at lunch. The books purpose is clear, anyone looking for a story line or something like that will be disappointed. Of course, considering it’s very clear description of its contents, I couldn’t imagine why someone would buy and read this book expecting a plot (or for it to eventually be a movie).
