Autopoint All-American Pencil, 1.1mm tip, Paneled Barrel, Black, American Made (60010BK)

Unique pencil with a unique lead size (1.1mm). Similar scripto brand pencils were used in space in the 60's. It is sturdy and stout in all the right ways. I have a few complaints with it, being a nit-picker. The furrow at the end is not straight on mine. It is on there solid as steel, but it is misaligned a little. This subsequently has misaligned the clip to one side a little as well. Doesn't affect function, but I am a perfectionist. What bothers me more is the twisty section of the pencil toward the front. The design is great and solid, except when I write it "clicks" back and forth under the pressure. It is slight, not prominent, but is audible and feelable nonetheless. Overall a good pencil for collectors, but I would purchase a Pentel Sharp 2 pack if I could do it over. Shipping was great too.

I found 1.1mm lead messing around with vintage pencils. That's being said many vintage pencils are fairly small for my hand so the search for the lead, lead me to autopoint pencils I got this pencil and I love it. Light weight the panels give it a nice feel. I am an engineering so constantly doing math and science with the cheap 0.5 mm lead would drive me crazy breaking the lead all the time. I have yet to break this lead and it just feels so much smoother on the paper. If you constantly break those thin leads and want to try something that feels super smooth give this pencil a shot

I appreciate the tribute to the old style when the times were simpler and the quality was good. What I love about this pencil is it is the exact same as what my grandfather used to use when drawing blueprints. It functions, no gimmicks, just plain works. It also features 1.1mm lead that is very durable and does not break like the brittle 0.5 mm leads out there. Buy the colors and use them for annotations and highlights. They wont bleed through the pages!

I've tried many mechanical pencils and this is by far the most dependable. Just twist the barrel clockwise and the lead slides out. The tip grabs the lead securely; there is no looseness or pushing the lead back in. Extra leads are stored under the eraser. Note: only one lead fits in the feed mechanism at a time. Reloading another lead is quick and easy.
