Best Everyday Use Colored Pencils
I'm not a fine-artist, but I've tried many premium-grade and decent student-grade colored pencil sets. Yes, the ones that cost 2-3 dollars or more per pencil make a huge difference (hint, get a SMALLER set, plus some earth tones, then add only the ones you need as they come up, individually. Don't pay for a huge set with a dozen or more that you will never use...). But those, such a range of properties- wax, oil and water based, colorfastness, fixer-fastness... And yes, save your important works for those premium wood pencils and your best paper... many 'best of' lists can tell you which high-quality artist brands have which properties. But June Gold Mechanical are THE BEST go-to colored pencils of the many many I've tried. Sure, these are not even high end student-grade, they're 'budget grade' - but the waxy pencils DO have decent color saturation- I was surprised, they are not kiddie-grade, they really will address a full expressive range for decent sketching. But I have to defend such high praise for a budget-grade, so here goes:1- They are mechanical- so ALL your worries about grab-and-go sketch or doodle pencils- broken leads, frequent messy distracting sharpening, disappear. You can ALWAYS just grab any color and it's ready no matter what. You can use them anywhere- a bus, a subway, sketching in front of the tv- you don't break concentration to deal with points that crack and fly off, having to sharpen constantly, when you do, the lead inside is cracked- no worries about being careful, these can ride in your bag and take a beating getting bounce around... Always works, nice and compact.2-They are a more compact set, and more saturated and easier to use than the little sets of mechanical pencils you can put colored lead into. (I've tried a number of those. Heavy pencil, far more wax than pigment, small range, poor blending...)3- lightweight-- easy to hold, and the full set of 36 is light (the full set weighs less than most sets of 6-8 colored mechanical pencils...)4- Each pencil has a sharpener- you never HAVE to sharpen these, but if you want a really crisp tight point, because there's no wood, you can put a needle fine point on the lead in a second. AND, no searching in your kit for the sharpener, no messy wood peels to deal with- great if you're sketching on transportation, in a museum or coffee shop etc. And, just fast, get right back to drawing, no fussing with your sketch or drawing tools.5- Great range of colors- I was impressed at how many super vivid bright 'modern' colors there were, along with how full the earthtones and the skintones (diverse range- thankfully) there are. They are inepensive but the color choices in the set are remarkably well thought out especially for those tricky ombres, blending, etc. Really full range within each color family. Very close match to a really good oil paint set.- whatever your style- cartoon, graffiti, manga, earthtones, classical, florals, portraits, - for your practice, studies, sketches- don't burn out your expensive good set on that. The beauty of these is the range has no limit, so you can bash these around and still use them with no hassle, while you're sketching around composing the work you want to do with your 'good' pencils.6- The case is great. Sounds silly. But the crystal clear package they come in - so you can see EVERY color and just reach for it, but they don't spill out, or get all mashed and mixed up in the box (it actually has a clear plastic divider inside to easily keep them neat) is ALREADY all the 'carrying case' as well as laid out 'grab and go' work setup you'll need.- I carry my stuff around with me, and I like it laid out nice on my desk at home. Usually that means transferring them to a case or roll (large, fussy, you can't see all the colors at once without needing a large area to spread them out, etc.) These fit in any bag I have, and I can leave the case IN my bag, flip the top open, SEE all the colors and slide out the ones I need, no fuss. In a coffee shop, or at my desk the compact case shows all the colors in a small area, no pencils rolling around, no popping open a tin and spraying pencils all over, breaking all the leads. If you want super-high end colored pencils for your artwork or important grown up coloring book or mandala work at home at your desk or easle- and you know you want those- DO make the investment. But if you want a colored pencil set that is SUPER easy to transport, store, lay out for use, sharpen if you want to, with a full range of saturated colors and a really good set of colors- full range of blues, reds, ,,,, as well as range of neutrals, black and white- MINUS the fuss of broken points, broken lead all down the wood case, no heavy metal mechanical pencils, nice full range... great for blending? Then THESE are for you. I was absolutely shocked how VERY much value there was in this super-inexpensive set, AND how incredibly convenient and really smart and perfect even the package, it's perfect portable carrying case-was.95% of the time, my fancy wood colored pencils and even my better student grade, and my limited set of 8 mechancial colored-lead pencils--- ALL sit in their containers on their shelf. Unless I'm doing a nice finished work, for 'art' sake or to give to someone- but all the rest of the time, THESE are the ones I actually use.

The best multi color 2mm lead package to be found.
I am not an artist. As a point of reference, I bought some Baile 2mm lead holders which came with lead. The Baile red seen tested here is hard and doesn't print on the paper vs. the Jun which prints on paper easily. The pictures speak for themselves. Jun lead is GREAT in comparison. I can put a dark mark on paper or a very light mark on the test sheet. You are going to need to do a test sheet to see the color before putting pen to art. The lead looks the same on dark colors (Green, Brown, Blue....), but the color on paper is distinctively different. I am giving it 5 stars. But let me tell you a down side, 1 lead is broken when I dumped them out. I dropped several while playing around and none broke, so... They don't come in a container with the leads labeled. Jun doesn't sell all these leads individually. So, while this lead set it GREAT and GREAT for the price and GREAT for the non-professional (kids and adults). If I was a professional, the inability to get more say Carmine (or any other individual color) AND the inability to organize the lead would bother me.

Low cost novelty color lead - but brittle
For the money nice lead and the color is true, but it is brittle and breaks easily. I use alot of red, blue, black, green, orange and yellow lead. I would buy this again, but I try VERY hard to not let this lead get too extended from the lead holder or pencil as it seems to break VERY easily. I would recommend people this lead to people that use non black lead, but I would advise a bit of care when using it.

Works great for me....Long review but for drawing use, not a coloring book use review.
Wonderful and I ordered 2 more and will order even more, here is why:1) This lead is a wonderful deep blue, not a coloring book blue, a pretty serious looking shade of blue.2) It has the tactile scratchiness of an H level lead3) it has the smoothness of a B level, it has great paper interaction, but not too hard and not too soft, but has some nice tooth on vellum.4) It erases somewhat ok depending on how hard you pressed5) Also has a slight very mild wax texture, so it is like the best of all words, colored pencil, graphite,6) It never broke one time and in a technical mechanical sharpener gets a great point but it doesnt last a long time. Has a great price to quantity point...great value.7) Is very fluid right out of the pencil holder , so great motion for sketching, actually wonderful for sketching at 2mm flat out blunt, at first I was always going for a point but it is great for concepts without any point at all. Nice on a harder backing surface , you can get a good tight scratch or go ice skating, somehow it can do both.8) Is not a brittle as Pentel which I still like as well, but this with a point outdoes a .05 and .07 but does not hold the point as long to keep below .05.9) Great purchase and price , this is an objective review , I did not get free samples and I am not associated with the company.10) It has become my first choice goto blue lead for drawing , I do not use any black for sketches or drawings, I like the neutrality of blue, this will go dark with pressure but not extreme dark. In other words, no attempt at grayscale levels with an exact H or B match.11) If you like Mechanical, like blue, like a good not too hard , not too soft material , love the price of this, then you should try it. I would not consider this a material for very very dark shadows...but my paper choice is translucent vellum ...that way I dont need a mirror check at all for concepts, I just flip it over and start drawing on the back, so I actually work a drawing on both sides, at the same time. if I need a total redo, I dont need a light table at all, just put the two sheets on a cheap piece of styrofoam 1/4 inch poster board12) I will still use the Pentel .05 and .07 if I need a consistent area without needing a really sharp point. Extra tight details are done on the back of the drawing with UNI .05 blue. It is deeper and darker.13) I like this material with either Borden and Riley 90 Vellum and or the 11 x 17 translucent white vellum from Paperandmore, however that paper is expensive so I get 200 sheets for 99 dollars at one time. This drawing material works fine on both. I do not use any drawing shield under my hand because I like to work the blue smudge and smear into the drawing as it happens randomly and evolves. This does not overly smear but when mixed with the Uni, gives a nice foggy tone to the paper as it develops in real time as opposed to a pre toned paper.14) I am not a photorealist, so I cannot comment on the exact shading range for ultra realistic rendering, or illustration board. I dont really care , I am a line person, not a value person.15) I use this more for the equivalent in blue of the shading drawing style types in the Italian Renaissance except in blue not red chalk, nut still more linear. In conclusion this material, a good mechanical holder, mechanical type sharpener , Good vellum , Uni and Pentel .05 and .07 as sidekick leads, .... and actually the rest of the world can go ahead and blow itself up if it wants too ....., I will go live in a cave with a skylight.Sorry if I used the word "I" too much , just trying to give you an example of a very specific example of how this material is used, and for the price , it is worth trying.Nothing beats drawing!!!!

Alta calidad y excelente precio
Minas de excelente calidad con una tonalidad adecuada, las uso en sustitución de las que se incluyen en los Zebra sensations, quisiera adquirir un set más pero ya no las he visto con disponibilidad, lo cual es una lástima.
