Everyday Gospel: A Daily Devotional Connecting Scripture to All of

Great Gospel Encouragement and Overview but Skips Dark Passages Often
I like this devotional a lot but I did notice a tone that seems to be intentionally missing and there are obvious limitations. The author clearly has a deep respect and high view of scripture. However, there are often many stories that are interwoven into the devotionals that make the devotionals more personable. Each devotional is about one or two pages. The book follows the entirety of scripture in the Christian order from Genesis to Revelation. Some devotionals might take a few chapters and others might cover multiple books. One day covers Jonah and Obadiah, with Obadiah being essentially ignored. It's not a heavy critique since the goal seems to be to cover all of scripture in a year. It's just an inherent limitation.I have appreciated the devotionals. They are theological, practical, and encouraging. They are thought-provoking at times and always seem sound. I will definitely enjoy continuing through this book. However, I was curious how certain chapters would be covered and I noticed a pattern. I was curious about dark episodes in the Bible. I went to the golden calf, the story of Dinah, the Levite and the concubine, and the violent scenes in Revelation 19. None of these scenes are explicitly mentioned or addressed. The closest seems to be acknowledging darkness when God isn't treated as King for Judges 19. I would have personally preferred getting more direct lessons from these stories but that did not seem to fit the goal of the author. There could have been a good way to apply this to "All of Life".Even with this limitation, I'd recommend it. The limitations do make this devotional a lot more accessible for ages and situations while still being enriching to all.

Nice addition to daily Bible reading
I've really enjoyed this devotional. Each daily entry is about a page-and-a-half of clearly written encouragement/exhortation. They are solid writings that are easily applicable to daily living - think clear, consise and easy to digest rather than theologically profound (although simple things often turn out to be far more profound than we first imagine).I really like each day is started with a scripture reading and doesn't just rely on a quick verse and then exposition. If you start the devotional on Jan 1 and do each reading, you will have read the Bible in its entirety (Gen - Rev) by the end of the year. Each day is also followed by a slightly longer scriptural passage that more directly ties to the devotional writing.I believe that the Bible should be our primary devotional, but I can definitely recommend this (based on the readings so far) as a good complement.May God bless you through the reading of His Word.

A grace-filled, gospel-centered devotional
“Everyday Gospel” is a daily devotional, one for every day of the year, that takes the reader from Genesis through Revelation in daily bite-sized snippets of a few chapters each day. The daily Scripture passages are listed after the date, followed by a concise bit of commentary on the daily reading. At the end of the commentary a secondary passage of Scripture is given if you desire further encouragement from the Word. Now, obviously, since this book has just released in the last month, I have not made it through the whole devotional book. But, I can say that what I have read has been uplifting and encouraging. Every section of commentary ends with pointing the reader to God’s character, hope, grace, salvation, and the Gospel. I think this book will be an excellent way to start the day, focusing on God’s amazing grace and His unfathomable character and love for me. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to grow as a Christian or to anyone who is seeing to know more about what the Bible teaches.

It Gently Introduces The Entire Bible
This book is most suitable for new to the faith, born again Christian believers. Every day the reader is instructed through a modern style mini-sermon about biblical truths. These small sermons are engaging and highly insightful. This pastor uses the "less is more" approach. He does not want to overwhelm or confuse with too much at any given time. His love for saving souls and a deep understanding of modern day human nature is evident. The experienced and seasoned pastor shines through on every page. He distills with great skill the most crucial points that need to be made in order to give a better understanding of Scripture, one step at a time.
