You need something that will interface DV to whatever ports you have on your MacBook Air. A new one will have thunderbolt 3 ports it could be a bit of a cludge eg: FireWire 400 to 800 adaptor (this product) + FireWire 800 to Thunderbolt 2 adaptor + Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 USB-C adaptor !! If you have an earlier thunderbolt 2 or 1 port then you can lose the last adaptor. Good luck
