While meeting his girlfriend Sarah's family for the first time, Ryan Emerson must prove his intentions and win the approval of her father, Gregg, while he masks jealousy for Sarah's ex-fling Tyler, As the Thomas family settles in, things start to happen around the cabin: strange footprints by the window, noises from outside, and a bittler animosity from the the locals, including law enforcement. As a blizzard descends on Lake Alice, so does the evil from behind the camera, as the Thomas family is hunted down one by one. The family struggles to stay alive as their numbers slowly dwindle.

HIGH suspense with a lack-luster ending. Sill worth watching.
For a 'budget' film, this movie has a lot going for it in my opinion. The makers gave the film a much more 'realistic' approach to it without falling back on cheap special effects and over done blood and gore. I found this especially refreshing considering I have seen so many potentially good movies ruined by this very problem. If your looking for a 'slasher' kind of movie, then this one is not for you. The movie has an 'on the scene' feeling about it that gives it an unsettling feeling about it that increases the further you get into the film. This is made even more unnerving as you realize that all the action is being filmed by the murderer. The four possible 'suspects' that could turn out to be the killer, are all killed off one by one. Basically everything was going well with this movie, until towards the end. The movie fell apart when the ex-boyfriend who had already been killed, turns up with his crazy mother and they turn out to be the murderers. There is a long, long overly melodramatic scene and that was the point that I gave up on the film having a good ending. To make matters worse, the movie finishes with an obtuse ending with a THIRD 'murderer showing up and killing the 'X' and the Crazy mother and he turns out to be the one behind the camera that was the one filming the suspenseful scenes throughout the movie. For example, it would have been a better ending if that scene was cut out of the movie and the terrorized girl had to go search the first cop that had been burned to death for his car keys to make her escape with the murder still on the loose trying to get her. That could have been the most suspenseful scene in the entire movie if it had been handled right. The built-up suspense was already there, and they could have capitalized on it to finish the movie. Since the makers used a more 'realistic' style to the movie, it should have had a more 'realistic' ending. It's still worth watching, but when you hit the end, I think you'll agree with me that it could have been a lot, lot better.

This movie isn't Good but I was Entertained. It's Unintentionally Goofy. Baffling Silly.
The Acting really isn't terrible. The Actor who played the Dad, had a Decent performance along with the Daughter Characters fiancé these two were the two Decent Actors. The Most Entertaining Performance was from Brandon Eaton he plays the Character "Tyler" his Performance is so Goofy and Cheesy but in a Good way it's not exactly Bad just Weird. The Actor who played The Old Cop was Bad but so Bad its Funny. The main Character is a Female the Actress ranged from Mediocre to worst in the film, she was frantic and banshee wailing when the best chance of survival was to be quite and strategic, a lot of this Entertained it really did make me laugh out loud more than a few times. The Sound Effects are Terribly Funny I mean what were they thinking how did that get past the editors? The Ski Masks are Silly Looking. It also takes a while for the Thriller/Horror to kick in if you can call it that, but even the leadings up were not too slow. I give it a 2 out of 5 stars on Amazon, a 4 out of 10 on IMDb & a 29% if we talking Tomatoes. It was less than Mediocre, but I got to say I enjoyed myself. Worth a watch if you are a Prime Customer and like to watch Low Budget Slasher Flicks. Prime Customers get to view it for FREE! Can't beat that. It's also a Short Flick you'll only waste an 1hr 10mins of your time. If you are bored throw it on.

The film wallows so long in the set-up that when the killings start they just kind of happen with no real intensity or suspense and it even has the gall to try and play the twist as self-aware as if they saw Scream and decided to throw something like in for no reason
Whoever wrote Lake Alice understands all the beats that thriller/slasher film should hit, but doesn't understand how to give any weight or intensity to those beats. Which is a shame because it's competently shot and acted, but the plotting is where it all falls apart. The first 48 minutes is an over long setting up of the rogue's gallery of red herrings where nothing much happens. Apparently the dad character has issues with the local police force, but I hope you don't find that interesting or want to know more because that's never explained. None of the red herrings make any sense as the killer, they're just slightly shifty, so there was no build up or excitement leading up to the reveal. The film wallows so long in the set-up that when the killings start they just kind of happen with no real intensity or suspense and it even has the gall to try and play the twist as self-aware as if they saw Scream and decided to throw something like in for no reason.

Don’t waste a moment of time......unless you’re bored.
So I’m bummed, this movie started out with so much potential. It literally fizzled when things should have been getting good. Then went to horrible editing and you had no idea why characters end up in a places. It seemed so rushed......... if your bored and have nothing to do then watch it. Just don’t expect a lot.
