Perfect Petzzz 4908 – Soft Toy Dog Golden Retriever

I purchased this puppy toy for my Mum for Christmas in the hope it would comfort her somewhat, as she has Dementia and fiddles for hours. I was absolutely delighted with the presentation and it really is the cutes thing I have seen. It's softness, size and appearance is lovely. It's very comforting when you see it breathing and it has given my mum some real comfort as she once had the loveliest Labrador which she misses still terribly. I have only 1 observation and that is, it has no off switch which would help save money on batteries going forward. Other than that it's beautiful 👍

The media could not be loaded. Bought this for my ten year old daughter as she wanted a puppy but we have two cats so can’t get one right now. She loves hers so much. She said this would help people who were lonely and can’t cope with a pet too. Cute little snoring and very soft fur. She’s in love.

The finish is far from great and is actually a little rough around the edges. The paws and nose are hard plastic and there is hard glue dried around the edges. The tail is cute but a little rough too with glue too.The reason for the high score despite that is that this beautiful boy (as Mam feels him to be) is adored by my elderly Mother.Now in a care home and suffering from Alzheimer’s she can no longer care for her lovely real boy who has had to come to live with me and his brother. Due to the complications around visiting wrought on us by Covid-19 and the restrictions it has caused we also can’t visit as a wee group freely as we did before March 2020 so when I saw this boy online I thought we’d give it a try.She has adored him since she first set eyes on him on Christmas Day (when he was allowed out of quarantine) to meet her. Her response to him alone is worth all of the stars but the finish let’s it down.A note for the manufacturers though, if you can get the finish to a higher standard and the paws and nose not so hard he’d be even better and fully deserving of the full 5 stars. It’s a point that Mam has noticed despite her confusion too and she furrows her brow and wonders if his little hard paws are okay before she carries in cuddling and forgets.She’s even tried feed him a little piece of pork pie apparently so now we know after all those years whose fault it was when our other beloved pets used to beg in years gone by. 😂The chest movement for the breathing is a bit rapid but makes him even more believable. I just need to get the home to keep a check for the battery running down. The breathing doesn’t turn off but Mam wouldn’t remember anyway so he just keeps going.

I bought this for my mother who has a bit of dementia and she loved the look of it but I have to say I was disappointed. If this is the "soft version" I dread to think what the hard one was like. It feels very much like the kind of stiff stuffed animal you would find in a taxidermist collection.The stomach is softer that then rest and moves up and down quite realistically but the noise of the motor is very annoying. Even my mother with her failing hearing noticed it and instead of having it next to her she had put it on the other side of the room so she didn't have to hear it constantly whirring.That brings me to the most annoying part of the product the constant whirring could be easily dealt with if there was a simple on/off button to stop it breathing, but the only way to do that is to unscrew the battery cover and remove the battery or break the contact. What a silly design and a waste of battery.I would have returned this apart from the fact that mum loves it (from a distance) and she filled in the adoption certificate using the name of one of her long lost pets. I wouldn't have purchased this if I had seen it in a store and especially not if I had known how annoying the constant breathing is.

I ordered this for my mum who has advanced dementia. She certainly thought it looked real and was very gentle with it. However it is quite solid and whilst the pile looks realistic it does not have the depth and warmth needed to be really convincing. The second time she stroked it she said oh it's cold!However, so far for short bursts of a few minutes it is working as a distraction.It wouldn't work to have it sitting by her chair.Certainly best for those with more advanced dementia who can no longer identify that a cold hard pet might not be a real one!I wish I'd paid more and got the soft warm one.

It was a present for my mother in law on her 90th birthday. She loves it sitting on her lap. Looks just like her dog she had years ago.
