Reduced my phosphate level completely in 2 weeks
Very pleased with this, like all Seachem products you get what you pay for. After testing phosphate with an API Phosphate test kit it was off the scale, I tried Phosguard and after 2 weeks it was completely and safely absorbed. The test kit revealed normal levels in my 100l Malawi aquarium. Removed and replaced with a smaller bag to keep on top of it following normal water changes.

An effective means of phosphate removal.
Been using this product for a year or two and found it to be effective. Just follow the instuctions on the container.....the correct dosing rate is smaller than you might think and certainly smaller than a lot of the videos on YouTube that show people using huge quantities of this stuff. The phosphate removal is rapid (just three days) after which the beads may be exhausted. The phosphate binds with the beads to offer a one way transference, meaning that if you left the beads in the sump or filter they wouldn't leach out phosphate back into the tank. I'd recommend buying some zipped mesh bags from the online seller of your choice to hold the beads in the sump. I have to say that I don't like using this stuff...but it's a necessary evil. Water changes, macro algae harvesting in the sump, mangrove plants growing in the tank, low livestock levels, not over feeding are all preferable to using chemical removal of phosphates, but sometimes we need a hand getting the water parameters back on track! I also find that corals shrink back significantly after I use this product and some become discoloured. I've noticed it time after time. It defintitely upsets certain inhabitants of my tank. As the product becomes exhausted they all resume their usual selves. I want to love Phosguard but some of my corals hate it. Feed less, stock less, more water changes....my mantra! But..this stuff works!

Works great
Got rid of brown diatoms in a new tank and I reused them again in my sons tank also. I put them in my external filter for about a week and it worked great

Expensive for what it is...
Probably better and cheaper options out there....

This is the deal
All sand tanks .... diatom (brown algae) outbreak in all 3 after moving house.2 treated with Phosguard .... one treated with fluval pads (which are rubbish)Can you see the difference? (Look at the sand)

Does what it should and good price
Bought this and added to a Fluval 406 for the removal of silicates which seem to feature quite heavily in my tap water. This done the job quickly and cleanly at a good price. The media is small so adding to a teabag could be a cleaner way to go. I poured into one of the filter media box sections and though a couple of bits escaped the box, they didn't make it any further than the filter pads so no harm done.
