An excellent saddle for the price
I bought this bicycle - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ridgeback-Motion-Frame-Hybrid-inches/dp/B00KGE73E6/ref=cm_cr-mr-title - but the saddle it came with was a bit too hard and narrow for me.So, I bought one of these to replace it. Fitting is simple - you simply unbolt the retaining parts of your old saddle, slide the old saddle out and put this one in its place.Tighten it all back up again and off you go.It's a good idea to check the exact position of the saddle before you start removing the old one, as they do have sliding rails to enable you to position it exactly where you want it.Someone reviewing here says it isn't a gel saddle - which I don't understand because it says it is a gel saddle on the package and it certainly feels like a gel saddle to me?!It is a good soft saddle, and absorbs a lot of the potholes I have to ride over, and it also has a couple of sturdy springs built in to absorb even more.I'm pleased with it, and for the money it would be difficult to get a better saddle.

but this is why I love it! As it is wider than most bike ...
Was a bit worried about this one as the images show it to be quite bulky and a lot bigger that my previous seat, but this is why I love it! As it is wider than most bike seats you spread your weight more evenly across the seat rather than resting on your bum bones. The rear springs are a big bonus considering i do a lot of off-roading on rough terrain and it helps soften some of those bumps. You can also really feel the padding, then you "sit back" in your seat you can fee the gel mold round you and it is comfortable.Again, it is bulky compared to some seats but that is what makes it good. I do not have bruised bones in my bum anymore and can cycle for a hell of a lot longer before there is any discomfort. My legs give out before my bum now.

Nice, comfy saddle
A wide saddle that is quite comfortable. It is sprung underneath so it probably takes a few of the harder bumps out, and it appears to be well made and well padded - have had it on my bike for a few months now and everything looks ok (no loose stitching or anything). It also has a reflective bit on the back, not sure how much good it is but every little helps.Probably a little bit wide for my liking, but if you are looking for a comfortable saddle then this might be the one for you.

Comfort on the mountain bike
About 2 months ago I purchased myself a mountain bike, not a well known brand, but a well spec'd bike for the money. However the one item that stood out as not being fit for purpose was the saddle, which wouldn't have been out of place on a racer. After 25mins I had pins and needles, and it was really putting me off. However since having purchased this saddle, that's all behind me(!) This morning I did a 2hr ride, through the forest, then a couple of kms on the road, and no pain or discomfort whatsoever. It is a well built item with a reflective area on the back, and was no trouble to swap out the original saddle for this one. In fact I bought 2, as I got the wife one also. Recommended.

I bought these seats for my partner and I after we bought some new bikes.I thought I was okay with the original seats we had but WOW. These are AMAZING! The springs move with each push on the pedals and it absorbs pretty much all of the road impacts. It's VERY comfy and nice and wide too so you feel fully supported. They're made very well, very sturdy and good materials. They look like they'll last. For the price, they're absolutely fabulous. I would DEFINITELY recommend this product and I'll probably buy more in the future just for spares.

Comfiest saddle so far
I haven't been able to get more than 15 miles/1 hour on my new hybrid bike (road use) before the pain in my butt (two pressure points on right and left buttocks) is enough to make sitting down too painful. Tried 3 different saddles with varying degrees of gel cushioning to no real benefit. Tried this saddle and managed 30 miles with no buttock pain, though slight chaffing on 'centre axis'. It's not quite perfect because for me I'd like the saddle nose to be a bit longer (feel like you're sliding off the front unless tilt saddle up slightly) and it could do with a bit more of a cut away in the centre (which is probably why it chaffs slightly). It maybe that much of the benefit comes from the springs, so that the road bumps aren't hammering your backside so much.

Avenir or not ?
Raleigh Avenir Gel SaddleHaving recently bought a Raleigh Urban 1 featuring an Avenir saddle, a really great buy incidentally from Costco at £180 inc VAT, I decided to purchase a replacement Avenir saddle for my wife's bike to replace her old Selle Royal gel seat. And in true Amazon fashion the saddle arrived next day beautifully packed as we have come to expect from them. Unfortunately that's the good part because the saddle itself proved to be no where near as well made, or designed, as the one on my new bike and I doubt it will last any where near as long as the old saddle it replaces !The cover of the saddle itself is simply stapled on to the underside of the plastic moulding beneath and the material used for the cover does not allow `breathing', looking for the most part quite cheap. Which is in stark contrast to the Urban 1 Avenir gel saddle (which features a 2" open longitudinal slot which allows for the aeration and continued good health of one's private parts) which I think is finished to a much higher standard than the replacement saddle offered for sale here !To cap it all the replacement saddle was not branded `Avenir' as in the photograph but `Cyclepro', granted it looks the same but in reality I guess it is simply a cheap generic Chinese saddle of some sort that Raleigh and or Amazon have purchased in bulk.A shame on Raleigh I say. Anyway what do you really expect for £15, that said my wife says it is actually quite comfortable so on that basis I will give it 3 stars although I was very tempted to give it just 2 !
