Enjoyable read for any real hip hop fan of the first 20 or so years of the genre. Makes me think of simpler times. Also makes me wonder what a book similar to this would be like with the 20 years after the book was written.... Hopefully it gives someone an idea

You really need to have a deep love for hip-hop to appreciate this amazing book. Or maybe this book will create a new appreciation for the art after you read it. The wealth of information is mind-boggling. This book will give you a strong background on the historical figures of hip-hop and really show you the backbone of the culture. This book is impossible to put down after you start reading and written with great humor. Fantastic stories about legendary artists that make the rap culture seem so much more human. Especially for a musical genre with such a negative rep. I love this book. It goes from the starts of rap to the late nineties. I always learn something new from this book and it never ceases to amaze me. Practically an encyclopedia of rap knowledge. It is all presented in list form but it works so well.

This highly debatable book of top/best/worst lists of hip hop culture is a must have for all hip hop heads! It makes a great conversational piece, and has opinions that run the gamut of old school and "new school" lists...however... the opinions of the book ARE DATED...This book was published in 1999, and so if you weren't into hip hop by then, then some of the lists will strike you oddly (I myself would ask what about Kanye? The Game? Lil Wayne? Bun B? Ludacris???... until I saw the publishing date, lol)

Very informative and interesting

Very impressive compilation of unique hip hop lists—basically a clever way of organizing a confluence of compelling and artistic expressions that have came out of hip-hop. Also makes a great coffee table book.

The book was very thorough. Needs to be updated to the current times. And more needs to be added to the beef section. Song by song beefs

A superb book that really digs deep into the history Hip-Hop with very interesting lists and articles. If you are serious about real Hip-Hop and don't have this then you need it.

Shipped quickly, great condition and it's a great book for rap geeks or soon to be rap geeks, it's funny, it's crude, it's something you'll have for s long time and will always find something cool to read in it, and yes it's literally a book of rap lists.
