Received at no cost to me. This item shipped and arrived earlier than expected. Packaging was sufficient for an item of this type so as to provide damage free shipping. Unit is smaller than I expected but I guess technology has progressed to the point that smaller is better. Tested accuracy alongside a thermometer and had the same or within a degree Fahrenheit of each other. Unit has an operating temperature of 32 - 122 degrees Fahrenheit but when I tested it on my Trex composite deck I got a reading of 130 degrees. I can confirm that is probably very accurate as no one is able to walk barefoot across the deck after a couple hours of full exposure to the Florida sun. It will smell as if something is burning on days when the air temperature exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Overall it is mostly a novelty item for me as I really have no need to use this daily. It does however have a red laser type pointer dot that the dog and cat love to chase. Guess I can get them to chase it around until they get tired or over heat then I can check their temperature with the unit itself. There may be both worse and better units of this type on the market. If I had to pay for something like this I would research the available options and cost vs function. It seems to work as advertised. One star deducted as the instructions are scant and does not say how to install the 9 volt battery needed for it to operate. Stumbled onto the small indentations on the grip portion of the handle which led me to solve the mystery of how to open the battery compartment. Then insert the battery supplied with the unit. It is a very tight fit and you need to be careful how the battery is inserted and the handle closed to avoid damage to the wires inside the battery compartment.

I've been wanting a infrared thermometer for a while. When I want to sear a skeak on my cast iron pan I want to make sure the pan is hot enough to do the job. I saw this thermometer on Amazon and decided to give it a try.The thermometer has a very wide temperature range. It will read from -58 to 1022 degrees Fahrenheit. It is also sensitive enough to use as a forehead thermometer.I fired up my stove and it read the temperature of the deflector plate instantly. I am very excited to use this thermometer for my cooking needs.

The media could not be loaded.  What can I say. You order an item like this for a purpose, and when the item serves that purpose flawlessly, you're happy.Today, I'm VERY happy with this item. Very simple to use, and does the job well. Item comes with an included 9v battery, and has very simple controls for use. I saw this advertised as a pizza oven tool (to assess the temp in a pizza oven), but don't let that fool you...an infrared laser thermometer is an infrared laser thermometer! This thing works everywhere...not just on pizza ovens! I shot a video, to go along with the pictures, which will show a bit more about the device, but this is a HIGHLY recommended item for anyone in the market!
