Durable and Handy
This is spill proof as long as you have common sense. It is nice and low profile. Gets the job done. Very easy to store.

Solid build quality and good function
Let me begin by saying that I don't store used oil in this pan - I transfer used oil to a recycle jug. So I can't speak to other reviewer's concerns that the seals leak when used for oil storage.1. Plugs seal very well using replaceable o-rings and the threads seem sturdy. I previously had a Flo Tool drain pan and the threads typically wore out.2. Pouring spout also seals well and has sturdy threads.3. Oil drains very quickly into the lower section - minimal restriction and no overflow. Of course, you have to remember to open the vent port.4. Low profile design makes for more room when working under the car.5. With a few oil changes under my belt, side handles would have been better for pouring into jugs, but these handles work acceptably.A very good design - solid build quality.

Awesome oil pan!!!
Oil pan is great!!! It fits right under my ring toolboxes and holds oil from my car and truck at the same time. Best part is, the caps actually really screw on, UNLIKE the other drain pans out there that have like half a turn of thread and ALWAYS LEAK!!

Solid Oil Drain Container with Room for Improvement
The Chapin 78005 Low Profile 12 Quart Oil Drain Container is a solid product that has made oil changes for my ATVs and tractors much easier. Its low-profile design allows it to fit under most vehicles without any hassle, and the 12-quart capacity is perfect for my needs. The build quality is excellent, and it feels sturdy and durable. The container's handle and spout design make it easy to carry and pour out the used oil without any spills. It's been a reliable addition to my garage and has certainly helped streamline my maintenance routine. However, I did notice that the flow of oil could be faster. A bigger vent opening would have significantly helped in this regard, allowing the oil to drain more quickly and efficiently. While it's not a deal-breaker, it would have made the process even more convenient.Overall, the Chapin 78005 is a great oil drain container that performs well, but with a slight improvement in the vent design, it could be perfect. I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable oil drain container for their ATVs and tractors.

Works Well So Far
Almost got the type sold at Walmart, but didn't like how shallow the basin was, so took a chance on this one instead. So far only used it once to drain the transmission fluid out of an old VW, and no problems with spillage or containment. Had to set it aside for several days before getting around to disposing of the old fluid at the local parts store, and it held up fine with no leaks. I recommend it.

Clever idea
Seems like a clever idea. A drain pan and container to carry used oil to the redemption center.

Cannot trust it not to leak all over your floor
Bought this in April 2025 so this should be the latest version. First problem was when the oil hits this container it splashes so hard it sprays everywhere including back up on the bottom of the car, getting everything splattered in oil. The car was only raised 5 inches. Second problem, when I had the oil in it and all of the caps tightened to hand-tightness, after a couple days, the oil started seeping out of the container and got all over the garage floor. It's just too flimsy and cheaply made. I ended up having to double wrap the whole thing in black trash bags and dispose of at the hazardous waste site because it is not shippable in its condition and the box (and other things in my garage) were saturated with oil. So it was a waste of money. I was hoping this would work well, but it turned into a big unusable mess.
