The drop down bar is 9 inches --- the overall length is 23 1/2 inches.

will this fit over an entry door at "1.75wide?

NO. I relied on the previous answer when I ordered this, and it does not fit on my 1.75" doors. I fits snuggly on a 1.5" width.
