one of my most favorite adhesive tapes
It's not my primary paint masking tape, but I'll definitely call upon this when it's a delicate or freshly painted surface. I've never once had this tape cause damage. And I'll use it for other purposes, too, where I need a lightweight tape without worrying about damage or tape residue. I've left this stuff adhered for months without issue. About the only thing it'll really stick to and damage in my experience is paper. Doesn't stick particularly well to rough surfaces.Had to order it from Amazon as Home Depot doesn't carry it anymore. I'm surprised by that. It's a really good tape. Expensive, but amazingly good.

Diode Laser on Glass - Read Me
Rating how I used it: 0*I bought this tape to use on drinking glasses with my diode laser (SculpFun S6 Pro). I've done a lot of drinking glass etching, either cheap black acrylic paint sprayed on with an airbrush (a pain to apply, easy to remove) or standard flat black Rust-Oleum spray paint (easy to apply, a pain to remove). I was hoping tape would be almost as easy to apply as the spray paint and almost as east to remove as the acrylic - and it was - but even slowing down the laser and bumping up the power, all it did was burn off the tape, it did not affect the glass. My current theory is it's related to the light colour of the tape, that a darker tape would get hotter & the glass would be etched, I'll update this review if I later confirm this to me the case.My standard settings for (black) painted glass are 12 lines/mm, 300mm/min at 65% power. When these settings did nothing (to the glass - it looked like it did until I cleaned it), I tried 250mm/min at 100% power with and without air assist, no change.Upside is I didn't waste any glassware, haha, downside is I spent $10 on tape I can't use (for this purpose - I won't return it because 3M never claimed it could do this).I will see if I can colour the tape once applied with a fat (black) marker or dye; in case someone finds this review by searching 'laser' I'll mention I don't like to apply the acrylic paint by hand because the strokes were visible in the etch - this may be desirable sometimes, but generally it is not (at least for the stuff I have been etching). If adding colour makes the difference, I'll likewise update this review.3550+ reviews when I bought it, but only two referred to using it in an off-label manner with laser engraving. I'm giving 5 stars because I believe this tape would be excellent for its intended purpose, but the written review is specific to how I was using it. I hope someone else with the same idea finds this review before trying it themselves, good luck!

If only I knew then....
If I knew THEN what I know NOW, I'd have used THIS TAPE and not what I had on hand. Well, I decided to paint the ceilings in the house. BUT, I didn't have this "special SCOTCH tape". The blue tape in the photo worked OK but tore off a lot of the wall paint when I peeled it off after completing painting the ceiling. SO, I had to repaint the wall if many areas close to the ceiling. Buy this SCOTCH delicate surfaces tape and do it right the FIRST TIME! Ha-Ha!

A bit finicky, but helpful in a pinch
Please note this is NOT the intended use of the product.A month or two ago, while driving down the toll road, I noticed that part of my bumper was all a flutter. I pulled over, got out, and realized I could not get it back into the correct spot to lock in and stay. (There's a reason my car model was discontinued, I also realized) I stood several yards from cars going 75+ mph, wondering what on EARTH I had in this car that I could use. Rifling through my purse, stumbled upon this tape - decidedly not the color of my car, it's bumper, or any other parts. I'd bought it to tape the edges of my cross stitch fabric (more on that later), but I figured hey, why not, right? I only had a 5 minute drive to get home. I taped the bumper in place with several feet of this tape, and drove home. That bumper did not budge! And it didn't peel the paint off my car! 10/10, although legally I probably shouldn't recommend you use it for that purpose. MacGyver would be proud, though. However, it does NOT want to stick to cross stitch fabric (again, not its intended use, but I figured fabric was about as delicate as surface as it would get). Even after ironing it onto the edges on a low heat, it still peeled. So, stickiness questionable; sturdiness, excellent. Maybe layer it with regular blue painters tape for best results.

Works well on delicate surfaces!
As stated in the product description, this tape is made for delicate surfaces. It is not as strong as the blue tape so don't expect it to have the same hold. It has a lighter grip and peels off easily. I purchased it to use on painted walls but also found it useful to label bins. Because of the lighter color, it's handy to write the bin contents with black marker on a piece of tape and stick it on the bin. It seems to be a bit high priced but it's useful and I would buy it again.

A staple in your artist toolkit!
I used this tape on watercolor paper and it is exactly what I was looking for. Sticky enough to provide clean lines but delicate enough to not tear my watercolor paper. I also love that it comes in lilac. It's a perfect neutral. Not loud or distracting like the regular blue painter's tape.

A little too sticky
This tape was too sticky for delicate surfaces and pulled off underlying paint when it was removed in several areas. It should be fine for a general purpose painter's tape.
