Wonderful YA debut!!
Ms. Toon is an amazing story teller. Whenever I read her books I know I won't be bored. In fact, I was reading another book but stopped to read this one when an email alerted me that it was now available for purchase. She did not disappoint. Don't let the fact that it is a YA book deter you. It is still a wonderful story that kept me engaged. I read it in less than 24 hours.I really enjoyed Jessie's story and her coming to terms with her mother's death and finding out her biological father is a rock star. I'll never be in that exact situation but it was fun and full of drama but still realistic and down to earth if that makes sense. It was easy to relate to Jessie. It was also fun catching up with Meg and Johnny.I gave this book 4 instead of 5 stars because I do feel that some of situations in the book were a bit mature for younger audiences. There is drinking, and smoking. *spoiler alert* The characters don't go further than kissing but I feel that some terms used were a bit mature. That's probably just me though.Overall, wonderful story I know I will probably reread.

Paige never disappoints!
Even though I was only introduced to her work about 18 months ago, one of my favourite authors of all time is the lovely Paige Toon. I have been waiting with baited breath for her latest book "The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson" to be released. One thing that I love about Paige’s writing is how the characters in her books are so often linked and, knowing that this story followed on from Johnny Be Good and Baby Be Mine, I was really surprised (and perhaps a little discouraged) by the cover. It was only then that I did some research and realised that Paige had coined this book “young adult” rather than the usual “chick-lit” which caused me to momentarily ponder at what point exactly we cease to be young adults… hmmm!?Not deterred by the 'young adult' thing, and having read both Johnny Be Good and Baby Be Mine (along with all of Paige’s other books), I was so excited at the thought of being reunited with two characters that, to me, feel like old friends of mine.Initially, I found the book a little tedious; Jessie had been acting out ever since her mothers sudden death and was not only treating those around her poorly, but was also becoming self destructive. It all felt very “teen” and was a little hard to get into, but I am glad that I stuck with it as it really picked up once Jessie had stepped into Meg & Johnny’s world. Admittedly, it was a little unusual to be reading about Meg & Johnny’s life from another persons perspective, I often found myself wondering “what is Meg thinking right now?” and “oh Meg, what did you do that for?” as the story developed. Not wanting to ruin the story for those of you who are thinking about buying the book, I can promise you that once again Paige Toon has not disappointed us. This book is filled with characters who feel so very real and whose emotions you can relate to. You will fall in love with Jessie as she finds her place in the world, and your relationship with Meg & Johnny will develop as you see how they have settled into parenthood and how they handle this newest challenge.Once again, I couldn’t put this book down and I powered through it over the course of three nights - so it seems the saying is true, never judge a book by it’s cover! The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson is not a one off, Paige has announced that there will be a series of “Young Adult” (there’s that term again! i’m still young… right?) books about Jessie. To be honest, I was disappointed that the book ended where it did, so I am looking forward to catching up with Jessie again when the next book of this series is released in 2015.

The Jefferson's...
So Johnny has another kid he didn't know about. This is definitely more of a young adult book, but I enjoyed it still. I like reading about Met and Johnny's going on...and Jessie is just another part of the story. It's going to be interesting to see how this story plays out or hopefully continues to grow.

I love this story. I REALLY love this story.
Jessica's world changed very suddenly – her mom died in a horrible accident 6 months ago.Jessica is 15 years old, and feeling very alone. Even though she has her stepdad Stuart, (who she has known all of her life) she fear that he will get rid of her because she's not his. She loses contact to her friend Libby, who very fast find herself a new best friend. It hurts. It hurts a lot.A lot of things has changed for Jessica. She doesn't know how to react, and people that knew her before the accident reminds her of her mom, or ask her how she's doing all the time – they are only making her cry. She push people away, but even though she's feeling that it make things worse, she can't stop the bad circle. She find relief with her new friends, drinks and late nights. Her mom never told Jessica who her dad was. Not because they didn't argue about it when she was alive, because they did. Her mom had her own reasons, but for Jessica it's difficult that she took that secret with her in the grave.By accident she learns who her dad is. Her dad is famous – really famous – but for Jessica it's not the fame that she sees. She hope that meeting her real dad will make everything alright again. She travels to Los Angeles to meet him, But she's not getting the immediate belonging feeling that she hoped for. Actually she feels she's an intruder. Johnny doesn't seem to be interested in her, and his wife hate her. Even though Jessica looks tough she's still just a little girl who have lost her mom.But in the end there was a reason for Jessica coming to Los Angeles – to get the answers her mom can't give her now, and her new surroundings, family and friends (and boys) might be the best thing ever happened to her.I love this story. I REALLY love this story.Jessica's story is about guilt and all the what if's.Right from the first chapter you feel how Jessie has given up. How sad and angry she is at everything, and that she has no way of getting out of it.Stuart – her stepdad – is a good guy, but he can't handle the teenage girl. No matter how hard he tries.I love the flashbacks with her mom – it made her present all the time, and we get to know her mom too. I felt Jessica's sorrow. She had a really good mom. I had a lump permanently locked in my throat. Although she shows anger and contempt when people try to help her, you know that she does it because it is her way to show grief. You want to hug her and take care of her. Especially when she is in Los Angeles and meets her "new family" for the first time.Paige Toon is known for her chick lit novels, and this is her first YA novel.I know for some young adult sounds like a big change, and really it's not. Paige already proved in Pictures of Lily that she's able to wing the voice of a teenager. And the story is still told with Paige's amazing story telling voice. As always she pull you into the pages with her characters, and place descriptions.I really like Jessica. She's feisty, and able to give the boys again. She has this personality that demands attention when she enter a room. A female version of Johnny to those that know Johnny already, and I'm sure that makes you smile hahaIt's a spin off series from one of my favorite series Johnny be Good.It can (and is intended) to be read as a stand alone. This is the first book in the series about Jessie.Next book will be released Spring 2015

A fun read
When I bought this book I was unsure what I would think. I had seen it around but had never picked it up. I finally bought it one day and now I wish I'd bought it sooner!Although I hadn't read any of Paige Toons books before I found it really easy to read and get into quickly. Once I'd picked the book up I really did not want to put it down. I really liked the story and although it sounded a bit unrealistic from the description it was definitely well thought out and written in a completely believable way.I like how we got to read about Jessie in both her home town and LA as it was nice to see how her attitude would differ between the two and how her relationships and behaviours were effected. It was really fun to read about her time in LA and the luxury of her dads life but I like how she was still a little unsure and found it may be hard to fit in as it showed her vulnerable side.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more of the series. I think it's definitely the best book I've read in a long time!

Fun and light.
Paige Toon is always a favourite of mine but when an author steps away from their usual style and releases something else it always makes me a bit weary but I had absolutely no need to be.I would recommend that you read the 3 books in the Johnny Jefferson series first as this contains Johnny & Meg and although you don't need to know their story it will help to understand abit better if you do.The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson is Paige's first attempt at young adult and although you can tell it is aimed at younger readers it didn't take any of the enjoyment out of it for me, in fact I enjoyed that it was so easy to read and it left me feeling really warm and cute inside.Cute is a good way to describe this story. I loved being back with Johnny and Meg and seeing how happy they are and although Jessie is a shock they soon embrace her into their fold. The story doesn't end in a cliffhanger but there is definitely more to Jessie's story and with 2 more instalments already released we don't have to wait to find out what else life has in store for Jessie.A proper feel good heart warming story that leaves you feeling all fuzzy inside.

Fabulous Young Adult Story- I can't wait for more
I was a bit apprehensive about starting this book as I don't tend to read Young Adult books, however since I absolutely love Paige Toon's adult books and enjoyed all the books so far that have featured Johnny Jefferson, I knew sooner or later I would read this. And having heard that there is a sequel to this due out later this year, I decided to make sure I had read this.So glad that I did, as this book provides all of Paige Toon's trademark warmth and humour, and turns them into an incredibly easy to read story, that was highly enjoyable.Jessie has gone off the rails a bit recently. She is reeling from her mum's tragic death, and is suddenly playing up to the troubled teen stereotype. She is living with her step dad Stuart (who is also a teacher at her school), and her mum had always refused to reveal the name of Jessie's "real dad".After asking her stepdad if he knows who her father is, she is told the whole story, and it turns out to be mega rock star Johnny Jefferson. Johnny is currently living in LA, and invites Jessie over for a week to get to know the family.I loved all of Jessie's story, from the troubled teen, just trying to make sense of a world where her beloved mother dies in a freak accident, to what she gets up to in LA. During the book, she tests boundaries, and does start to mature a bit.The interactions between Jessie and Johnny, are as you may expect stilted at first, and then they blossom, especially once Johnny explains his version of the romance between himself and Jessie's mother. It has been years since I read a book about teens for teens, and it has made me remember my younger days of reading, when I would have loved this book and probably shared it around my class at school. As is often the case I was reading this on my commute, and I was blissfully unaware of many of the stops as I was enjoying the story so much. This book shows that Paige can turn her hand to young adult books just as brilliantly as adult books. I am very much looking forward to her upcoming releases this year.

Brilliant book
This lunchtime I'd finished Perfect Christmas, I saw the link for this and one clicked instantly, I had no idea it was out already and it absolutely made my day. I devoured the book and enjoyed every single word before I finished the last page.Jessie Jefferson has been suffering for a few months, her mother passed away in terrible circumstances, she's turned into a wild child mixing with the wrong people and her relationship with her step father is difficult. During a conversation with her stepfather Stu Jessie finds out that her biological father is actually a famous rock star. A visit to LA throws Jessie into a different world where she meets people she's not sure if she can trust and ultimately feels more alone than she did before. Will she get the father she craves and is she ready for life in the limelight?I loved the books following Jessie's Dad Johnny Jefferson and couldn't wait to read more. Paige Toon handles Jessie's teenage life in such a touching way I was near to tears in quite a few places. Jessie is a great character and I can't wait to read more of her story when the next book comes out in the Spring.

another fantastic book from Paige
After reading Johnny's Girl I absolutely couldn't wait to read Jessie's story. After seeing Jessie turn up at the end of Johnny's Girl through Meg's eyes I enjoyed seeing the world through Jessie's eyes.Jessie is pretty messed up. After losing her mum in a freak accident she feels alone. Completely alone. Stu is a really good Step-Dad but he's not her biological Dad. She's never known who her Dad is and her Mum is gone she feels like there's no one who she can connect with and she keeps pushing everyone away cares about her. I think she thought if she did that and she lost them it wouldn't hurt like it did when she lost her Mum.When she finds out who her Dad is, I think something strike's a nerve within her. She finally knows who he is and wants a relationship with him. The only problem he's Johnny fricking Jefferson!I loved seeing Jessie adjust to life in LA. It was really good to see Jessie make some new friends and strong bonds with her half brothers.I enjoyed seeing how Meg and Johnny coped with the arrival of Jessie.I really loved seeing the world through Jessie's eyes. It made me feel like a teenager again. I cannot wait to read the next book in the Jessie series I am excited about the next part of her story.

So good
I wanted to call my review "Damn you Paige Toon" but thought it might be a bit rude...the reason being, I have stayed up late for 3 nights and been dead on my feet in work and missed my stop home because I was so engrossed in Jessie, Johnny and Meg and am now deflated and bereft that we have to wait another year to find out what happens. I am not exaggerating. My boyfriend is fed up of the huffing as I flick through what kindle book to read next and nothing seems to hold my attention. It's taken a while for me to get round to this as when we were first introduced to Jessie, she seemed a bit of a brat and I just thought it would be too "young" for my 33 year old self. I was totally wrong and didn't notice any difference from Paige's usual writing style. I promise you, if you are a PT fan, you will be as carried away as with any of her other books. This is a brilliant read, you will feel the LA sun warming your rain drenched UK skin and dream of finding out your dad is actually a rock star. Well done Paige on another fab book.

fabulous as always
Paige Toon is my absoloutely most favourite author ever. I have read all her books in order and always wait impatiently for her next book. This was such an amazing read, a great continuation of the Johnny and Meg story and i can't wait for more. I don't know how she does it, but her books just totally draw you in, the characters are so vivid and likeable that I am always left feeling sad when I finish one of her book as I know I have a while to wait for the next one. Paige Toon never disappoints and always delivers incredible stories. Having read some utter rubbish recently, it reminds me how good these books really are. You just have to read them all x

Great series, that just keeps getting better and better!
I have read the previous Johnny/Meg books and I have loved them. Each holiday I have devoured them in hours, whilst floating around the pool on a lilo. They are not only well written but the pace is perfect to keep me engaged throughout, which is no mean feat sometimes!I love the main characters and this book. Previous books in the series have been written from Meg's viewpoint, this one breaks from that winning formula as it is from Jessie's viewpoint and it works! It really works well to see the much loved characters from a different angle.I have just bought the next installment of Jessie's new life and I cannot wait to get stuck in to it!The only problem is . . . will Paige Toon be able to get the next book out before my holiday this summer! :-)Keep them coming!

Great YA Read!
I have never read Paige Toon before but this book convinced me I should. She has written a prequel to this involving Jessie's dad and his now wife love story but even without reading those books, you really get to know, see and watch all the characters develop. Jessie is a really great heroine, you really sympathies with her about her lose of her mum and going into the unknown of meeting her dad who just so happens to be rock star living in LA. As she is trying to form a relationship with her dad she really connects with everyone in his life and crushes on a hot musician who I secretly love and hate because I have no idea what to make of him. I really felt sorry for Jessie because I think we all go through lose and stepping into the dark moments and Paige captured that really well with Jessie and how any normal teen would deal with what is thrown at her. I love how the story developed and the bond between her dad and Jessie was formed. I'm really excited to what will happen in the next book as I read this book in a day as it was such a good, light, holiday read!

Loved it!
Another great read from Paige Toon. It was great to hear about Jonny and Meg again, they seem so happy and together after the ups and downs of Jonny be good, baby be mine, Jonny's girl! Jessie is a really cool character, I love the way Paige didn't make her into a brad the second she found out shes a rockstars daughter! I'd really enjoyed her conflicted feelings about the 2 boys she likes, being on opposite ends of the world and scale can really mess a girl up but Jessie to have it handled! Cant wait for the second one!!!

Great little read!! Un-put-down-able!
Paige Toon's books always have me hooked and I got this read in just over a week after it's release...Paige never ceases to amaze me when it comes to the story of Johnny Jefferson and certainly did not disappoint in this latest release!! I cannot wait for the next one in the series as I'm really curious to see how Jessie's life goes from being a normal schoolgirl from Maidenhead to being recognised as one of the most famous rockstars' daughter.Bring on the next one (which isn't a JJ story, but Paige's books are always just so good!) which is called Thirteen Weddings.

So good
Having read all of Paige Toon's novels, I was a bit dubious about reading the Jessie books as I'm 37 and hardly YA! But I've got to say that I think the Jessie books are my favourite of all of them. i love being back in the world of Johnny Jefferson and Meg, I can't wait until my daughters are old enough to read these.

Another great read!
I have read all of Paige Toon's books and like other reviewers I was unsure about reading a Young Adult book. However, after reading other reviews saying it was just as good as her adult books I decided to give it a go. I am glad I did because it really is a good read (as are all of Paige's books). Definitely looking forward to the sequel in 2015 (and Paige's new adult book in May 2014!) Buy this book - you won't be disappointed.

Love this
Im a massive Paige Toon and have been loyal since the first line I ready of Johnny be good. If I'm honest I didn't expect much from this (being young adult) but I was massively craving a fix from PT so I gave it a go and couldn't put it down! I love the story and the characters and its nice to see how Meg and Johnny have settled! Looking forward to the next one just as much as the Adult book that's due out! Give it a go you wont be disappointed.

A Good Read
As a massive fan of Paige Toon's, I didn't realise when ordering that this is a Young Adult fiction book. This made no difference, it was still a good read and tied in nicely with Paige's other books regarding Johnny Jefferson. The only thing I was disappointed in, was the cliffhanger at the end. Although this does mean that I will definitely be buying the next one to find out what happens!
