Beats winter better than a box
Several years ago I moved from Florida to Seattle and felt depression for the first time. The winters here are dark layered in dark wrapped in dark, wearing dark sunglasses. If there are any vampires they definitely do not sparkle.I have purchased four light therapy units, three light boxes and these glasses. For me the glasses have been the most effective. I am the mother of two small children so finding time to sit stationary for 1-2 hours a day is not realistic. While there was an initial interest in them (they giggled and wanted to pull them off my face), they don’t even notice them now and they accept that I wear them sometimes just like if they were regular glasses. I think there would be an adjustment for anyone who is around you during their use initially but eventually they would grow accustomed to it.I saw a leading therapist in Seattle who has published multiple studies on SAD. His treatment is to add light therapy along with dark therapy at night (for those who have trouble sleeping), and to do so on a strict routine. Sleep has to be at the exact time every night, and he treats insomnia with low dose (300 micrograms) of melatonin.I also found great help from the book Winter Blues by Rosenthal. These glasses allow a flexibility that I do not feel is possible with light boxes. I can do dishes, take a bath (carefully), even exercise while wearing them. Here are a few additional notes about them based on other reviews and questions I had before buying them:- You cannot see in the dark while wearing them, but as long as there is lamp light available you should be fine.- My charging plug did seem a little tricky at first, but after several charges the positioning seems to have corrected itself.- They came with a nice case- They have fully charged every time and functioned great since I bought them three months ago. Should that change I will update the review- The nose piece is removable but I haven’t had problems with it falling out except when my toddler ripped the goggles off my face and threw them down. It reinserted with no issue and no damage- They have three light brightness settings. I use the brightest and personally have no issue with it (no halos, headaches, etc.)- I use them in the morning and at night and sometimes for a bit in the middle of the day. They have helped set my sleep/wake cycle and have curbed my depression better than any other light therapy so far, possibly because this is the easiest routine for me to stick with in my current circumstancesI think these goggles are worth their price and have helped me greatly during the long, dark, angsty winters that birthed grunge music.

Strike three!! You’re out!!
I love the concept and that I can carry out some chores as I use this product, but they obviouly have no quality controls. My first Luminette never fully charged and would discharge in the middle of a session. I returned it to Amazon and replaced it.The second one fully charged but even though the instructions say that the unit will need to be recharged when it has one light lit, it discharged at four lights in the middle of a session. After speaking with customer service at the company, I returned the second and I received my third unit. It never fully charged and it doesn’t even turn on.I’m done!!!!!!!

If this keeps up, I might actually become a morning person…
My husband and I were experiencing poor quality of sleep, issues feeling groggy and tired in the morning, energy “slumps” in the day, and problems falling asleep at night. We did some research on light therapy and thought why not give Luminette a try. I am so glad we did!! We’ve been using the glasses every morning for 10 days now and have had awesome results. My sleep and energy levels improved within the first two days and my husband’s did within the first week. I have a sleep/fitness tracker as well, and I’ve been able to take a look at my before and after reports showing the improvement in the quality of sleep I’m getting. If this keeps up, I might actually become a morning person…For the most part, we’ve been able to integrate using the glasses in to our morning routine without issue. I can make coffee, read, or use the computer. However, despite what the Luminette website says, I feel it would be incredibly difficult to put your makeup on while wearing these glasses. Not only do they slide around a bit (I guess it would depend on how they fit you personally), but they take up a decent chunk of your face so…lipstick. You could probably put on lipstick.Wearing the glasses is a bit weird; you’d think that the bright light would hurt your eyes, but it doesn’t. That being said, as other reviewers have posted, you will need to wear these glasses in a well-lit room. If you wander into a dark room while wearing these glasses, you won’t be able to see much at all. Also, the charge lasts for about 3 - 5 hours of use depending on the intensity setting you’re using. Since there are two people using the glasses, we have to charge it every few days.Overall, we’re both really happy with the glasses and with the positive impact they’ve made on our health.PROS> Better quality of sleep> Easier to fall asleep in the evening and easier to wake up early in the mornings> Way more sustained energy throughout the day> Feeling mentally “sharper”, calmer, and more focused - probably from the better sleep actually…> You get to look like you’re starring in an 80’s Sci-Fi B Movie every morningCONS> The glasses can be a bit awkward to wear. Not uncomfortable by any means, but I find they can slide around sometimes> The cord and plug can be a bit finicky. The charger is a mini USB and it plugs into the glasses at a weird angle. Unless you get the exact right spot, they won’t plug in. Not a huge con, but it took some practice to get used to> The power button is tiny and I end up having to use my fingernail to turn it on
