What material is it made of? Velco closure?

It's made of a neoprene type material. Its still packed with Christmas stuff but I think it is a Velcro closure. It's looks great and worked nicely. Very glad I purchased it

Kind of because it's reverseable. Wood look on one side, candy cane on other.

Could I combine two to create a wider tree base?

Yes you could technically attach 2 products to wrap around a wider pole base, however we would not recommend this unless the base pole diameter is quite large. About 4 to 4.5 inch circumference. Please note you’d also see two seems where the items connect. Hope that helps! Thanks.
