Best $20 I ever spent!
This is genius! It is so simple and convenient I'd "almost" say it's a pleasure to use... it certainly makes managing the litter trays a much much more pleasant job than it used to be.I keep it right next to the litter tray and every time I walk past I glance to see if it's been used.If it has; I just grab the scoop (conveniently mounted on the side of the genie) and remove any clumps.I've had it for a month now and here are my observations:* In 4 weeks I have just emptied it for the second time, so for me it has indeed been two weeks per bag change. (My cat is an indoor/outdoor cat. I've found that since having this system, with a clean litter tray now always available, the litter tray is now first choice! Which means less cat poops to come across while working in my yard... bonus!* I estimate that I used maybe 18-24" of bag each time. (I used more bag length than needed the second time and had wasted space so I'll watch that). Overall I'd guess for the 14' cartridge length that I'll get 9 bags full which is <$1/bag... but I'll start measuring and try to get 10 out of a cartridge.* I've found it important that I use a clumping litter, and to keep it deep enough for poop to get buried and that you can easily scoop whole clumps without it bonding to the bottom of the tray - that way no soiled litter is left behind, and therefore no smell. I top up the litter as needed.* I removed the hooded cover from my litter tray and now have it open. This is for my convenience as it makes it so much easier to keep on top of things by simply scooping anything I see whenever I walk past. (I did read that cats prefer an open tray anyway; closed boxes were apparently made for us humans to help contain smells and unsightly messes). On the downside though... Litter depth is still a work in progress: too deep and litter gets spread everywhere, too shallow and clumps stick to the tray bottom as previously mentioned.* So far no marathon clean of the litter tray has been needed! Before this system I admit that I didn't scoop as often as I should have done, which meant things got a bit messy. I would remove any business but not top up the litter, then when it got very low it was time to empty the whole tray and give it a good clean. Having the genie and really keeping on top of things means the litter actually stays clean.* I periodically use a sanitizing wipe to clean it, particularly the inside black plastic cover of the bag cartridge. Simple. There really is zero odor in the house.I've even had comments from guests who are surprised when they see the litter tray and say they had no idea because they couldn't smell a thing.I have one small negative comment about the design: The catch that holds the bottom half closed doesn't work very well. It barely catches and easily comes open if I pick it up. For me this doesn't matter because I'm not picking it up and moving it anyway so I didn't even deduct a star because of all the positives for me.I don't write reviews very often but the litter genie impressed me so much by the positive impact it has had.Like my title says: best $20 I've spent in a while.I would definitely recommend it to anyone sitting on the fence about whether or not to buy one.

Amazing
I was skeptical of how much I would really like this at first. Before litter genie I was just using a little step trash can with a grocery bag liner inside. But the litter genie is worlds above that kind of system. Iām sensitive to smells. Especially bad smells. So it was important to me to have something that I could toss the doodoo into that would keep the smell in, even when I opened it again to put more doodoo in.The system in genius. You scoop the turd, place it on the trap after you open the lid, pull the trap out to let the turd fall and then close the trap again. It takes mere seconds. You can do it fast enough that you wonāt even smell anything. I let the turd bag fill up for about 2-3 weeks. I FOR SURE expected mold or something to be growing in the bag after so long. But alas, nothing! The bag wasnāt even steamy looking. I was BEYOND surprised. And there was probably a good 2 pounds of poop in the bag! So much doodoo and no mold, no smell, no steaminess, nothing? Crazy!Upon taking the poop bag out to throw away, all you do is pull a really good amount of the top of the bag where you would tie it, thereās a little bag cutter on the inside of the litter genie when you pop it open, slide the bag through the cutter, all the while keeping the top of the bag closed tight, and like a balloon just tie a knot. No smell, no unpleasantness, no hassle, no grossness, it felt completely sanitary. I didnāt feel gross afterwards like I normally do tying a poopy grocery bag.I keep the litter genie right next to the litter box so when I see a turd I can just drop it in right there. This system has brought me a world of convenience I didnāt even know I could have. If you have a cat, if your neighbor has a cat, if your friend has a cat, if your family member has a cat, GET A LITTER GENIE!!!

Great litter pail!
I really like this litter pail! I have several of them as I have many cats. It keeps the smells from the used litter, urine and poop from penetrating the room! It is easy to use and doesn't take up a lot of room and looks pleasing. The scoop that comes with it works great. After the included refill bags are used up, I use 8 gallon clear bags that I buy here on Amazon. All you have to do is, put the bag thru the center of the Genie bag refill, wrap the top of the garbage bag over the top of the Genie refill, tuck it slightly under the genie refill and place it back in place. Close the part under the lid and everything will stay in place when you deposit the waste into the container. When the bag gets full, just lift the lid and the next part under the lid and remove the bag and genie refill. Tie the bag up and dispose of the bag. Insert a new bag the same way and it is ready to use again. Simple and much less expensive that the Genie refills. Sorry, Genie. You can purchase a box of 300+ bags on Amazon for a great price. I buy the box of 330 Teivo 8 gallon trash bags and they work great! I would recommend this litter pail.
