Awesome Mattress But Quality Control Issues In Packing
I suffer from chronic pain. Severe chronic pain. I have ankylosing spondylitis, polymyalgia rhuematica, osteoarthritis, and a few other conditions that cause me to be in constant pain. When most people lay down at night and get off their feet it's to unwind and perhaps relieve the pain of spending all day on their feet. When I lay down at night I can't escape the pain and unless I have the right mattress I wake up in the morning feeling just as much pain (if not more) than I did when I went to sleep. So to me finding the perfect mattress isn't just important - it's crucial.I've tried a number of mattresses on Amazon, some good, some bad, some downright ugly. This mattress isn't just good - it's excellent. It offers support and cradles me in all of the right places at the same time so I'm not suffering from pressure points and I'm not tossing and turning all night trying to avoid pain in my hips or arms or sides. I wake up feeling refreshed and while the pain is never truly gone it offers me a lot of relief. The only reason this is getting four stars instead of five is because it arrived with dirt all over it. And I mean all over it. Since there was a plastic wrap covering the entire mattress there is no way that could have happened during shipping. It had to have happened before the mattress was wrapped and that tells me they have some serious quality control issues in part of the packaging process. For a mattress in this price range no one expects to receive a product that has dirt spread in spots all over it.

Perfect firmness
This mattress is amazing. The pillow top aspect is by far the highest quality I've experienced. It is connected well (no wide disconnected edges) and thick enough to maintain it's plushness throughout. It is a VERY deep mattress so take that into consideration in regard to bed sheets. I was lucky to have high quality queen sized sheets that adapted well to this full size mattress. And my queen comforter also worked well. There is absolutely no new-mattress odor whatsoever.I have already noticed a huge difference in my morning back stiffness, as well as my quality of sleep. I slept over 7 hours for the first time in years on the first night. I was not trapped in my bed sheet from my usual tossing and turning. I was quite shocked to see daylight when I woke up. I have had trouble with sleeping for many, many years but feel quiet hopeful this mattress will assist with this issue. All four sides have two handles that allow for an easier time moving it, though it is very, very heavy. I replaced a foam mattress that had not been able to recover from my 17 year old dog's bladder issues. I think this mattress will be able to repel stains and odors much better. The material is soft and doesn't have a plastic feel, but also doesn't appear to hold moisture like my foam mattress. The delivery people pointed out that the plastic around the mattress had been damaged during delivery and the mattress was dirty. I assured them I would be okay with the areas of dirt on the underside and the one spot on top of the mattress. The dirt did, indeed, wipe off easily. A good sign. The gray material around the sides stood up to my pushing and pulling (I was alone) across hardwood and carpeted floors with no sign of wear. This mattress will last years and years.

This mattress is extraordinary
This mattress is extraordinary. My wife calls it magical. We got the twin for our daughter and she loves it, too. Based on our own experiences with a variety of high-end mattresses made by Simmons, Sealy, etc., we would both rank the quality of this mattress at the very top. Although I can't yet speak to longevity or long-term features (for example, does it develop low spots over time?), here are my impressions so far. I will update when and as much as necessary:♦ It's extremely comfortable with the perfect combination of plushness and support. When you lay down on the mattress, you sink into a very plush top layer, but there is ample support on your lower back, under your knees, and around your shoulders. The same is true when you lay on your side: lots of support on your sides, along your ribs, and so on, but at the same time the mattress feels amazingly soft on the pressure points, like shoulders and hips. This superb comfort is really noticeable right away and is even better after a night of sleep.♦ Other features are equally high-end, the kind of nice touches you would expect from a "handcrafted" mattress. There are numerous super stout handles along the side of the mattress, making it a breeze to carry and move, despite unusually heavy weight.♦ The design is such that you can use it with a base (e.g. box springs) or without -- as explained on the accompanying tag. I'm not sure you can use this mattress without a base in the larger sizes, such as queens and kings, so best to check the tag of the mattress you receive. I would guess that a king is so wide it needs some kind of base, but I don't know.♦ The materials throughout are extremely high quality, well stitched, thick, and durable feeling. The sides especially are heavy cloth almost like canvas. The top is obviously soft and plush and a kind of quilted material, but not cheap at all. I expect it will last, even with the wear that kids put on things.♦ It is a thick mattress at about 14 inches, as you can see in my photos, but not so thick it can't be used. It's significantly thicker than our old mattress and my daughter regards it as a kind of novelty, climbing up so high and sleeping so high. Make sure your bed can accommodate it. If you are putting it on the button of two bunk beds, make sure there is space. If you have a guard railing to keep kids from falling out of bed, make sure the mattress doesn't rise too high in relation to the guard.♦ The price, although very high, is warranted by the quality of the mattress. If you are in the market for the best, I'm confident in saying that you have found it here. It is better than the high-end Simmons queen mattress that my wife and I sleep on, which was about $1,500 ten years ago. I'm very impressed and highly recommend with five stars! Will be back to look at Stearns and Foster again when it's time for us to upgrade to a king!
