What makes it mist? If by squeezing, Does the mist diminish as your bottle empties?

You have to squeeze the trigger. The mist function will work as long as there is water in the bottle.

Can I buy the straw separately? Ours melted in the dishwasher .

can you take the nozzle apart to wash? mine is dirty on the inside of the mouthpiece

I tried and tried with all sizes of bottle and nozzle brushes to no avail....., then I soaked in bleach solution with water and it came out so clean. I washed very thoroughly afterward with soap and water.
