The Book of Five Rings Paperback – Illustrated, December 14, 2012

This is a great book with very good insights on being a better person and doing better in life. There are a lot of analogies that keep it interesting. It is a shame it is not better know than it is. Especially being so short and such an easy read.

Paper back book came quickly delivered, and as described. Wonderful book that’s worth the read!

Although I think some of Miyamoto's idea of faith and spiritualism is flawed (Jesus told us the real Way), I have utmost respect for his warrior philosophy. It was fascinating, and riddled at the same time; I will read this several times to figure out just how much could be applicable to my own practice and training in self-defense. But just getting the chance to read this, at the suggestion by one of my sifus in Wing Chun, was a privilege. I'm grateful to the secondary author/editor/ translator.If you are not interested in warrior philosophy, this is not going to be your cup of tea.

The book came when it was expected to arrive. Kudos to the prompt seller.

Maybe im just dumb but it was very difficult to comprehend some of the stuff in this book. But over all its a fun book to read

Very great read. This bulk of this book focuses a lot on sword fighting techniques but if you read in between the lines it talks about so much more. The beginning of the book and the end talk about ways to go about your life to be successful. If you apply those early teachings of the book to the middle of the book where he talks about sword fighting, you’ll take away more from it. Great and easy read. Finished it the day I got it

I like it and read it in a day. It gives guidelines and outlooks on different ways of life. Also how to achieve and overcome the daily struggles of existing.

If you want a cheap and cheerful edition of this text to read, to mark up, or for reference, this will do. The material is hundreds of years old so it's in the public domain. This means that anyone with access to a printer or perfect binder can publish their own cheap version of the work and sell it for a few dollars online. This was obviously scanned from another source. Whoever was responsible for formatting and proofreading... didn't. If that type of stuff gets on your nerves, this edition will drive you NUTS. The unfortunate thing is that this breaks the flow of the text and distracts terribly from a style of language that already takes a bit of concentration to follow. Absolutely NOT suitable for a gift or as a venerated library edition. But the material itself is what you would expect from an ancient Chinese sword master explaining the philosophy of the craft to his students. There is some beautiful language from Miyamoto Musashi, so if you just want to struggle your way through the formatting, this inexpensive version will work. If you want to take pleasure in the reading of it - which this work deserves - find another version.

I've been a fan of Miyamoto Musashi for years, this is a good edition of The Book of Five Rings.. It's what you're looking for if you're looking for The Book of Five Rings.The cover design isn't great, but really that's not why you buy a book so its fine lol

Surprising short and simply written, it is a deep work of thoughtful dialogue. Considered the greatest ever Samurai duelist, the writer talks about the strategy of fighting, art and zen by reflecting of his long life as a master of martial arts. A digestible read, and worth a second bite.

Dieses Buch muss von jedem Kampfkünstler gelesen werden. Für alle anderen ist es auch interessant, wie der große Meister Miyamoto Musashi seine Art beschreibt. Echte Weisheit, die durch große Erfahrung entstanden ist. Und dafür kostenlos. Nicht zu verpassen.
