As a teacher in NYC Public Schools, I was plagued with "the pencil problem!" That is, every year the kid's pencils were consuming so much time with sharpening and losing pencils that one year I actually assessed the amount of time lost with this process and found out that it was hours which mounted up to a few days a year of wasted time sharpening pencils!Something had to be done!I devised a system whereby I sharpened everything before class, wrapped each pencil in velcro and attached to the student's desk. Presto, no more problem with the loss of pencils and the constant pencil sharpening because I sharpened at least two of the pencils and more for the kids daily.BUT, I didn't know the REAL secret solution to "the pencil problem!" Finally one day, I happened to see one of my dear colleague's supply list which stated specifically TICONDEROGA pencils ONLY! "TICONDEROGA?" I asked, "They are the only ones I accept." responded my friend."Ah ha!" I thought, I found the answer to my problems!And, honestly, that is how I learned that TICONDEROGA pencils DON'T break and cause a lot of less problems in the classroom. So from then on I went with TICONDEROGA every year and would not allow any other pencils in my classroom. The velcro trick wasn't necessary anymore because the pencils were of great quality and lasted.I taught all grades in elementary school with these wonderful pencils.Fast forward to my years in kindergarten. I was teaching in kindergarten and wanted a nice picture book to assist with the pencil grip because this is an important skill that must be taught. There were NONE, NO pictures books anywhere!So I decided to write one.✏️✏️I'm proud to announce that I published "Little Pencil Finds His Forever Friends" on January 9th, 2018! On February 27, 2018, Vicky (the illustrator) and I read this book to 85 preschoolers and kindergarteners. Every child got a pencil a pencil and we practiced the pencil grip after the "Read Aloud."I ordered over 80 TICONDEROGA pencils and put a little happy face on each one for the kids. ROUND pencils without any ridges. perfect for younger and for older with any hand issues. Easy to hold.Giving some to my 86 year old mom, these are easier for her to write with and keeps her in the ' I can do this" catagory. love them.

Boxes at the store are 2 in a box so this is a much better value! The larger pencils are the only thing my kid will write with now. His handwriting is getting so much better and his little hand doesn’t hurt when he writes.

These bigger ones like these are perfect size. Imho. The erasers stand up to abuse pretty good, too.

My elderly parents love these. Easier to grip as they are thicker than regular pencils. Theirfingers aren't as sore after using these.

I bought a couple of these for my son when he was in Pre-K. I have been buying them for myself ever since... I'm a bigger guy and have big hands, and pens and pencils have felt clumsy in my hand my entire adult life. I now use these for just about anything that doesn't require ink: woodworking, schematics, notes, math, etc... And these pencils last FOREVER and rarely break.If you have big hands and/or use pencils frequently, give these a try.

These pencils were on the preschool to buy list. We got some for home too. Great pencils for 4 year old learning to write.

do not know why the brand is so poplar but 3 schools my daughter went this year all have this brand in the school supply list so I assume it should be one of the best
