For a GM 3.4 engine.
I replaced a factory thermostat that wouldn't close (hence taking a long time to heat up, then overheating. With the Stant it overheated quickly! Because the thermostat wasn't the problem, a bad head gasket was. I found that out after replacing the Stant thermostat with a Gates thermostat.. same results. There is nothing wrong with the Stant. It works good. As for recommendations I would recommend the Gates, it just seemed better built and more precise. But I would not have a problem with using Stant again, they have always worked well for me.

Replaced on a Chevy 3.5 6 cyl...Works ! Don't forget to Completely Bleed the Air from the system Or the engine can Overheat..FAST !!!...Btw..No Permatex Needed on this..comes with rubber gasket..
