AQUA-TECH Power Aquarium Filter, 30 to 60-Gallon Aquariums, (ML90740-00)

I’ve used this particular aquarium filter for years and when it stopped working, I bought another to replace it. This next one didn’t last very long at all. Thinking I had just received a ‘lemon’, I ordered another. Again, it worked great at first, but only worked for a couple of months before the water flow was almost nonexistent. I followed the instructions and cleaned the impeller. Still, nothing. I decided that I had to be missing something so I began examining the impeller housing a little more closely. I found that not only does the impeller area collect impurities, but the tube area above the impeller does also. There are slits in the plastic tube above the impeller housing where things can collect and block the flow of water. After removing this blockage, the filter worked like new! So, the problem really isn’t with the filter. The problem is that the instructions only go so far as to tell you to clean the impeller, but not the area above it. As a side note…I use polyester fiberfill in a small corner filter and it was those tiny fibers that I found to be wrapped up in the impeller and also blocking the slits. It’s a great filter if cleaned properly!

The media could not be loaded. My father’s old filter had broken and needed an upgrade. This was the perfect power filter!! It immediately got to work! This by far is the best brand. The instructions were simple and very easy to follow. It came with a scrapper and 2 extra filters. When it comes to power filters don’t cheap out, this one is expensive but sooo worth your money!

This filter is the worst! It’s noisy and difficult to clean. For the first year I had a rubber band holding it together. Then I needed a wadded up paper towel between the wall and filter to quell the racket it made. Then even the paper towel didn’t work. It hummed and rattled so loud I could hear it downstairs with the door closed! Today after not even two years since purchasing it I pitched it and got another brand. I’m 72 years old and have had aquariums since I was 5. Never had problems with any filter and they all lasted several years. No need for two filter pads for a ten gallon aquarium. If you do water changes once a month or so and don’t over feed you won’t need two filter pads. Just another way to rip you off. If you decide to purchase this filter only use one filter.

It does the job quite well although it is loud. I can still here it from another room and my tank is filled with just 1-2 inches of space at the top.

I like this brand as well as the value for my fish tank.

I have been an aqua tech user for years and have always been super happy with their products. I needed a new pump for a new tank so I thought I would get this. They have redesigned the pump mechanism / impellers and moved them to outside the resevoir requiring the water level to be super high. It will not draw water unless the water level is above the new impeller design which sits inside the tank also forcing the electrical cord to go into the water. To clean this thing, you have to actually remove the whole unit just to clean the tube and impellers. The old design, you could do a quick clean by just removing the tube with the impeller at the same time not having to unplug and remove the whole unit. Further, the bottom cap covering the impeller kept falling off during installation as well as removal. Whoever designed and approved this new design should be fired. I cant even use this on my bigger tank because of the water height requirement. Water evaporates and we fill our tank all the time. If the water level drops at all this pump will stop working. I hope I can find an older unit with the better design because I really dont want to switch brands and filter cartridges. PS, I dont like returning stuff and now I have to box this up and return it. Very disappointed in this unit!

I bought this in September 2022. This filter cut down the noise level immediately! And filtering is amazing! Works fast and is effective. I do have to change the filter every 2 weeks and clean my tank once a month but that's less frequent than before.Fast forward to 4/2023. I'm doing my usual monthly cleaning and the filter stopped working. I changed the filter, power source, water level is met but the motor did not turn on. I really like this filter. It did everything as expected. It is a little bulky for my tank. Searching for a new silent filter system.

Es mi 3er filtro, ha sido el mejor hasta ahora. el nivel de ruido es tolerable y cumple muy bien la función.Actualización... duró sólo 3 meses y dejó de funcionar

Después de 2 filtros anteriores que no duraron ni un año, encontré este. Es un excelente filtro, de muy fácil ensamble e instalación y los reemplazos se consiguen muy fácilmente. Mantiene el agua de mi acuario ( 30L ) en perfectas condiciones por meses!

I followed the instructions to assemble the item. After plugged in, it pumps water for 5 minutes. Then smoke came out and finally stopped. What can I do to troubleshoot? Or is it completely broken and a replacement is needed?
