I am converted
I usually go for aquilla strings but I had a Uke I was using through an effects pedal and it was sounding a bit too shrill. So for the price these were worth a try. I am now a convert to Ernie Ball, the black strings do look cool 😎 but the sound is excellent, they do take a bit longer to settle in to stay I tune but after a week they are settling down and stay in tune through out play. The added bonus is they are ball end, I have ukes with peg, tie and slot fittings. I’ve used these now on both peg and slot with no issue. No reason why not to use on a tie bridge as you can slide the ball off and tie off.So would I recommend... cool look, great sound, easy fit, stay tuned, great price... hell yeah. I’m now on my second set for a second Uke of mine.

Nice strings, but not black, as advertised
A nice set of Low G strings, but part of the attraction of purchasing these was that they would be black, and they aren't. The Low G is a yellow bronzy colour and the rest are clear. The packet shown on Amazon does say "clear" but the wording for the item says black. Just to make you aware.

Only use Ernie Ball
Between myself and my daughter there are 2 electric 1 acoustic and a ukulele all using Ernie ball string's.Value of money stay in tune last me a few months but I am changing what instrument am playing all the time so that could be why.

Good strings
They sound good. The ball ends are great for my instrument. They look cool in black. I didn't have to spend ages turning my geared tuning heads to get the ukelele tuned in and there was loads of length leftover. So far I'm waiting for them to stop stretching. I'll let you know how they do later on.

Lacking resonance
I bought these because of the ball ends, which I thought would make life easier when restringing my uke, but I wasn't happy with the sound. The strings (for me, anyway) lacked resonance and sounded dull. Other people obviously like them, so maybe it's whether they suit a particular instrument or not, but I took them off my uke and went back to my old faithful brand.

Looking good in BLACK!
I fitted these strings onto my Banjo Mandolin and tuned it to play as a Ukulele .The black coloured strings look really good on this Banjulele (?) and sound really good too!

Not happy... but getting there
Edited to add: Amazon AI customer service directed me to the Ernie Ball website for support. I used their contact page to let them know what happened. I had a response almost immediately and they referred the matter to their Canadian supplier. Took a few photos and emailed them to the Canadian rep and was told a replacement set would be sent out as soon as possible. Will update again if there's an issue with the speed or quality :)Original review follows:Switched out the full set of strings on my tenor ukulele. Let everything rest overnight then tried to tune it this morning. Immediately the Low G string snapped and broke. Thank goodness it was the string and not the neck of my ukulele!!! I took a chance on these strings - and now I know better. Seems this is a problem going back quite a while and nothing has been done about it as it's still happening. Sadly, the return window has closed - I bought two sets and will not be installing the second set after this experience. Lesson learned the hard way :(

These are worth trying!
The media could not be loaded. I have ten ukuleles in my house that are all different when it comes to size, tone woods, construction, and features (tuners, bridge, nut, saddle, etc.). Here’s one thing I know: every instrument responds differently to strings based on all the construction variables. I put this set of low G and black nylon strings on my solid spruce top uke to mellow it out a bit, and now it is perfect. With the previous fluorocarbon strings it was just too snappy sounding. The Ernie Ball black nylons give it outstanding sound with good projection, clear ringing with each note, and the black color is a sweet look to boot. Interestingly, I had a set on a high gloss solid mahogany tenor ukulele and I thought the sound was just ok. Not bad, but not great. It’s important to note that It’s hard to call a string “bad” (like reviewers often do) when it’s just not the string set’s fault that it is poorly matched with the instrument. That being said, it’s a crying shame that many of the instruments being sold these days come with the thick synthetic nylon marketed as similar to old school gut. Sure, those strings are durable and have good tuning stability, but they are thick and stiff, and the tone is often dull with a C string “thuds.” Those strings actually ARE bad, but I understand why uke manufactures include them on entry level and value ukuleles — it prevents new players from breaking strings b when they are mistakenly using guitar picks, or they are writing bad reviews because the instrument goes out of tune easily when new.Like all nylon, these E.B.’s will take some time for them to stretch out and stabilize. That is not a flaw, but the reality of nylon strings.I am pleased with these Ernie Ball strings and will keep using them on one or two specific instruments. Price is right and they are easy to play. BIG BONUS with these is the ball ends. It makes stringing a snap. I wish more string guys followed suit.

I'm a convert
I've been trying the other big names over the past 5 years but may stick with these. They give my Kala concert uke a lovely warm tone, and the ball ends are so easy to use. So happy.
