I am currently pregnant with baby #4 and my third is still in diapers. The original Diaper Genie I received when I had my firstborn broke and I was on the hunt for a new diaper pail. I did some research and decided to give a different brand a try. My goodness was that a mistake! It was so flimsy! It also had no way to "pinch" the bag to help prevent odor from escaping into the room when you put in a dirty diaper, the pail itself was short, etc. After returning that horrible, other branded pail I was again on the hunt for a new one.I saw this newer Diaper Genie and was attracted to the stainless steel design. I also liked the idea of having pre-cut bags. With my OG Diaper Genie, there was always a random small amount of diaper bag that was leftover and wasted because of how the bag was cut. I was a little hesitant because of the price of the replacement bags; but, I decided to go for it anyway.This thing is amazing! I am so happy I went back to the superior brand, Diaper Genie, for a new diaper pail. If I ever need another I won't even look at other brands. They named their company Diaper Genie for a reason.I love that the bags are loaded at the bottom and you can just pull the bag out and immediately start fresh with a new one. Being 5'9'', I also prefer the height of this pail over others. I do not feel like I'm bending over as much to put the diaper in the pail. I've been using the Diaper Genie Platinum Pail, and it has been a fantastic upgrade from the plastic pail I used before. My wife and I have 2 stations for diaper changes with our son. One has a grocery bag hanging nearby, the other is this little gadget. It is very easy to change the bags, they are easy to set up, it really maximizes your utilization of plastic bags with it's own trash bag. This is proprietary, but it can still fit other trash bags, just not very well. The hands free, the odor neutralizer, and the foot controlled flap, all work in tandem really well. You could use an old grocery bag and swap them out, but you will be changing those bags much more frequently, the smell would not be controlled, and it would not 'hide" or be as aesthetically pleasing as this bin.

I was a bit confused on how to attach the trash bag to the “4 hooks” turned out i had to press this button (shown in video) to be able to do that lol. I love the appearance of this genie. Easy to open.. very sturdy and quiet.I have not used it yet so i can’t comment on its performance.. baby is due in August. I will update this review once i get a chance to put it to use!UPDATE:• performance is GREAT!!! Keeps the smell in!!• currently using newborn diapers.. doesnt hold alot of diapers. Went through a bag within 5 days. My baby does have a lot of poop diapers, and some times I’m throwing 2 away at once due to him peeing as soon as i put a clean diaper on.• bags are pricey, but are great qualityIf you’re willing to pay for the bags every so often and are looking for a diaper disposal, this is definitely worth it!Another update: after using this for 6 months now.. i strictly only use it for pee diapers. If you put poop diapers in there it will smell the room up WHEN you OPEN genie to put another diaper in.

We LOVE ours but only three months into using diaper genie the plastic pieces that hold the foot pedal in place bent and now we can’t use the foot pedal at all. If you have a diaper genie, you know how tight the lid can be, so we had to put a stick across.I’m bummed because it made diaper changes so easy and it keeps the smell hidden!Pulling out the bag can be a little hard if you fill it too much! Don’t make my mistake. Haha.It fits perfectly next to my changing table and it’s so easy to move around.

We had the original diaper genie for our first born, and it did its job well. The top did detach and we had to MacGyver it though. When pregnant with our second, I looked at all the options and found this. Glad I did. It’s very sturdy and has the same functionality as the original diaper genie. The only downside so far is the options for refill bags are limited. Hopefully that will change over time.

Fits in narrow spaces, big wide opening to drop in diapers, keeps odors trapped, and the bags cover the flaps which I love because it will keep the diaper pail clean from dirty diapers. It also has a soft close which is a plus! I didn’t think I could be so excited over a diaper pail! ❤️
