Yes, it does, with my Canon t6. It does not work if the battery grip is attached though.

It will handle up to 4.6 pounds. But if the lens is heavier than the camera it could struggle. Balance is the key.

The question is which lens do you wish to use? I use a Panasonic G9 with a body weight very similar to your Sony, but the Scorp Mini will handle only a wide-angle or similar lens - that is, not too heavy and not too long. The Scorp Mini is spec'd with a 2.65 lbs max weight and your Sony weighs 1.4 lb incl. battery. So the lens should weigh not more than 1.25 lbs.
