Does this solve the problem of Xbox turning off by itself?

Well, It depends on the issue of your Xbox, if it's internal it might be the system itself, I bought this to replace the power box for my Xbox one, it wouldn't even turn on (Note: I had the day one edition). Buying this improved, and helped my Xbox indefinitely to power back on. I recommend it (IF the problem with your Xbox is the powerbox itself)

No, Xbox One X do not need a Power brick, this items is only Compatible with Xbox One Console

will this work with original xbox one with 1TB hard drive?

I have the older 500gb version and it works fine for me. So I would imagine that it will work for yours also.
