Composting Van Toilet
Composting van toilet - these work great!

Perfect on the road for our composting toilet!
After using the compositing toilet in our van for the last two year, full time for almost a year, this is THE way to get media for your toilet. We have tried purchasing bricks of all sizes along the way but have always found them difficult to break up and messy, not to mention, when you live in 60 sq feet, where do you store the left overs. This works perfectly! When we are due to change the media, every 4-6 weeks with our use, we place an order and a few days later we pick up the pucks at an Amazon Locker along our travels. It's just the right quantity, break up is easy and so much cleaner. DO NOT add too much water and let the coir absorb the water while stirring regularly. The first photo is what I aim for in consistency during break up while the second photo is what it looks like the next day. You can always add a little more moisture the next day if it hasn't broken up as much and is too dry.Could not be happier!

Poopoo pucks
I gave them a 4 star because there are no instructions on how to crumble them. After a few trials I discovered they have to be immersed in water. Spraying the pucks among other things doesn’t work.

Pricey but worth it
This product is really pricey for the amount you get. So I bought one of the regular blocks of coconut coir. BIG mistake. It's impossible to cut down without power tools and horrid to store in a small space. This is SO MUCH BETTER. It doesn't need to be cut down; it doesn't need to be stored. Use and done. I will muddle through with the giant brick I got, and I'll be going right back to this ASAP. Time is money, and I'm spending so much time managing the big block in my space that going back to this will be a net savings for me.

Very compact, hard to rehydrate quickly
Quality of the pucks are fine, standard size and shape - they arrived intact and in good condition. They weren’t as weighty or as big as I had expected, and I was concerned how well they would bulk up the composting mulch in our Biolet. They pucks took quite awhile to soften and then when they did the mulch they provided wasn’t as much as I hoped. I ended up using the whole box in two months just to keep my compost as a good level in the Biolet. (We are only part time users so it does dry a littler faster than we like.)So, the performance of these is where I would deduct the star, you probably should soak these first to rehydrate then add them to toilet. (If that is your use, for the garden it might be completely different!)For our Biolet, I ended up getting a big brick of coconut coir, rehydrating a pail of broken chunks of it and it worked out much better. (Hopefully the Biolet mulch gets back in stock soon, as they have a special blend… but this works well in the interim.)

Way over priced
You get 8 very very hard disc. Package says do not soak. Wrong, there is no way spraying water on them works like the box says. You would be there for two days trying to shred them. I soaked each one separately for about 15 seconds on each side then shredded, it took me about 4 soakings of each pellet to shred. Had to use 6 of them for my Natures Head toilet which I’ve had for 6 years. Going back to using guinea pig bedding, works excellent and so muhc less expensive.

1st time user
I had never used coconut coir before but saw it being used in a lot of compost toilets. At first, I didn't know if just these few pucks would last, but I was very surprised how much they expanded. This pack should last me a long while.
