Just purchased this. The zip appears to be a plastic zip. Is this the case the zip is plastic ?

I have twenty of these bags , the zips on mine are of a plastic coated metal, the coating helps the zip tp move easily. If uou have any doubts to it's capability as a bag, then search on YouTube for "Hobbymate Lipo bag".

Would this bag be waterproof/moisture proof? Looking to put in in my boat The skin is moisture proof not waterproof, if Lipo goes up in flames smoke escapes from bag, 2 times I've had Lipo catch fire when damage once in a model helicopter crash and a badly puffed up Lipo while charging and not using balance charging (Should of known better) ,,in the last 15 years..highly recommend to use a safe bag charging or transporting.. Maybe buy a dedicated waterproof bag/container to fit safe bag in. BTW Lipos hate salt water it discharges them

Would this item protect small documents/ cash/ jewellery in the event of a house fire?

I would think no. The criteria is different. The heat from a house fire will be intense and so the heat transferred into the bag will be sufficient to ignite the contents. Whereas the Lipo bag is designed to contain a chemical fire

I see 5 star rating is this still the case or were there any failures lately

Difficult to say until you have a lipo fire which I dont want to try out lol. I have not heard of any failures, someone did test one out with a deliberate lipo fire a while back and it contained the fire.
