The Agatha Christie Hour: Complete Collection

I remember watching these programs on PBS when I was a kid who already was a fan of Agatha Christie's books and TV adaptions of her more famous stories. This collection based on some of her lesser known, but no less entertaining short stories is a fan treat. There are standalone and Parker Pyne shorts. It was fun seeing British actors and actresses I recognized in early roles.These tend to be more cozy than thriller and reflect the style of the 70s-80s. They show a variety of mystery situations even espionage and date from the 1920's to the present. A nice collection of classic mystery that I can recommend to fans and those who like milder mystery shorts.

We were surprised and a bit disappointed by the first disc in the collection of Agatha Christie stories. We were expecting suspense and intrigue, but the three stories we watched were not representative of her incredible storytelling skills.

We have seen all the Poirot, Marple, and most of the movies. We love Christie. So we went ahead an purchased this set because we needed more Christie. We enjoyed these shows a lot. it's not typical of a lot of Christie TV stuff. It's quirkier, more out of generic form. These are the lesser known stories, lesser known leads. The production value is very 70's/80's BBC TV quality, but if you're a Christie fan you'll probably love this kitsch aspect. Somehow it adds to the older Christie television experience. It relies on story and character and actors, rather than production tricks. There are a few in here that I certainly like a lot, but all are watchable. The set is certainly rewatchable. If you're like us and have seen all the other stuff, you can go ahead and get this set confidently. There are a few gems in here. We enjoyed it.

This item does not work on U.S made dvd players. It was a waste of time to purchase and have to return. Very disappointing as was looking forward to this item

I am late in commenting on the series because I do not always read my email in an up to date fashion.My wife and enjoyed the series very much even though we had seen all of the episodes a couplke of times already and have several in video tape from years ago. The colors were much brighter and of course the discs are much easier to use.Thankyou for providing the opportunity to get the complete series.

I bought this for a friend for the holidays. He finally had friends over to watch it. He could not get the Set 1 Disc I to load on 4 different dvd devices. He said the other discs were okay. If you buy this set, please play them before the return date. I have had this happen to me in the past with other discs.

Good collection of Christie mysteries. Particularly enjoyed the Mr. Parker Pyne episodes for their humor and thought provoking situations.They range from quiet and proper investigations into what life is all about to fast-paced and criminal investigations.Character driven and well produced vehicles for the up and coming and established actors of the time.If you love Christie, then you will enjoy the care given to these stories.

This DVD set arrived on time and in good condition. I am afraid that I am an Agatha Christie devotee and all her works are a joy to me. The plots are always superb and they usually keep you guessing until the end. This series is no exception, Fanatastic.
