Really good quality
A really nice tape measure, feels very solid and robust and I'm not gonna lie, that nylon coating on the tape is probably the nicest coating I've felt on tape measure since I begin to work in trade. I hope in next version Bosch will add an autolock feature to make it even better

Was sceptical.
I own a lot of Bosch tools, and most of them were mediocre quality, only the top line was something that can you be proud owning it. So I was skeptical about the quality of the hand tools, and was going for Milwaukee, but I order this just to see if the line is worth the highish price point, and to my pleasant surprise, it is. The measure is big sturdy and up to the highest standard I can want. It is a bit bulkier than a normal size one, but it is worth the extra width as it sits good in hand and even the magnets just strong enough for the needs.

Great tape measure
Quality is as I expect from Bosch. No problem reading measurements despite what one of the other users said. Professional engineer for 35 years and it could not get any easier. For the old boys out there still using imperial: This tape is metric only!! One other user, from Germany I think, mentioned the end is loose and moves about 3mm. ITS SUPPOSED TO. Its for internal and external measurements. If it did not move it would be unusable.

A tape measure that sets new standards.
If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.You can do both with the Bosch 5m tape. The metric scale on each edge and on both sides mean you can view it from any angle including working in confined spaces or up a ladder. It exudes quality in every detail expected of German engineering. Tension spring allows you to retract the tape but the mechanism is not too strong nor too weak so just right. The stop end is large and magnetic enabling you to grip easily the point of measurement. Ergonomic design just happens to be one of many features that make the Bosch 5m tape a pleasure to use.

A step up from the usual
This is a first impressions review, so I will update if it falls to pieces in a week (unlikely). My FatMax has given me solid service for many years so I'm not going to start bashing Stanley. There are some key differences in the design of the Bosch tape however that are quite a big deal for me.Firstly, many of my measurements taken with the tape are quick double-checks although I do use a tape for precise marking of wood for projects. Having a manual brake button on the underside is going to be a lovely way to hold the tape open temporarily without risking slicing my fingers on the edge of the metal (has happened).Secondly, having graduations on the underside is a MAJOR advantage. Why on earth have I put up without this for so long? I can't believe every tape doesn't have this.Thirdly, goodbye stupid, ridiculous, useless, insane Imperial scale. Really, inches are the dumbest measuring system ever. Good riddance. Now I have metric on all sides - what a relief.Overall I am delighted with this, plus the _really_ smooth motion of the tape in and out.And by the way, in case anyone is wondering, the play in the metal piece at the end is deliberate; IT IS NOT A FLAW. This is necessary to take account of using the tape to measure internal and external dimensions. I was going to annotate some photos against a ruler to explain then decided that - frankly - if anyone can't work it out for themselves then they probably shouldn't be using anything sharp anyway. All in all am delighted by this first impression and looking forward to using it in practice this week.

Superb metric only tape measure
This is an excellent rugged tape measure. Best thing is it doesn't have any stupid imperial measurements on it allowing you to use both sides of the tape in metric. Additionally the rear of the tape is also graduated in metric and there is a second hook to enable you to use it either way around. There is also a hold button on the tape if you don't want to lock it off.

Ending DIY measurement uncertainty
A professional quality tape measure, the tape is robust, the markings clear end tag is firmly held in place, the rewind action is controlled and there are no inch measurement on the scale so you can use it reliably in both directions without interpolation.
