A Must-Have for Every Jewish Home
A refreshing look into the Chumash. Not only does it provide a concise translation according to Rashi, but it also has boatloads of gems in the commentary section as well as all the features of a normal Hebrew Chumash (the full version of Rashi's commentary appears in Hebrew on every page like in a regular Chumash). Includes titles for the name of the Parshas HaShavua, so there's no need for a special calendar to tell you the portion as long as you know the name of the Parsha of that week.Something I really like about it is that it does not translate the names of characters and places according to the usual Christian-English rendering (Abraham, Moses, Bethel) but transliterates the names as they sound in Hebrew. (Avraham, Moshe, Beis-Ail.)Haftaros appear in the back listed according to the Parshas HaShavua, and it includes notes for when Sephardim, Ashkenazim, and Chabad Chassidim start and stop the Haftarah portions.I would recommend anyone getting a Gutnick Chumash, even over a Stone Chumash or Koren Chumash. It's too bad Kol Menachem doesn't publish a Tanach - I'd totally shun my ArtScroll Stone one if they did!

My personal favorite Chumash.
I own three different books of Torah with commentary. They are all liked and used by me. However, my favorite Chumash is the Gutnick Edition by Rabbi Chaim Miller. If I could only keep one book on Judaism from my library and had to give up the rest, it would have to be this one. My Travel Size Artscroll Chumash is easier to carry around, and has commentary by various classic Rabbis which I like, but I still prefer The Gutnick Edition of the Chumash. The third Chumash I own is the one by the late Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan, whose books really helped remove misconceptions about the Talmud and about Kabbalah. My Artscroll English Tanach also has some commentary, but I own that book mainly to have good translations of the non-Torah books of Hebrew Scriptures, especially the Psalms / Tehillim. Before I purchased this book, I used to use the Artscroll Chumash along with Daily Wisdom, which commentary by the Chabad-Lubavitcher Rebbe for the Torah portions. Now, everything is in one book. There is also a list of Mitzvos as an appendix which can come in handy. The book also comes with a red bookmark. There are different kinds of Chumash for students of Torah. I believe it is good to have more than one Chumash if one has the time to use them. I find this one easy to use and it meets ny needs.

Excellent
Baruch eta Hashem. This is a lovely copy. It was received as expected. It is a good size for study. Print is about a 10 pt serif font for easy reading. I need readers but no worries. I have not started my study yet but the page structure looks conducive for cross reference and additional study. I'm not sure of bonding type but the cover looks as though it will stand the test of time. Maybe it is me but I feel like I am holding a Holy Book, much more so than the Tanach that I have. Thank you Judaica Place for making this text available. I will definitely be checking with you for future book needs.

Amazing translation!
I admit up front my Hebrew isn't very good. So this translation is great for me. Adds in so much nuance that I would normally miss. The additional commentaries also add a lot. And it's beautiful! I am doing 929.com right now, reading one chapter of Tanach a day, and this has added SO much!

I was very grateful to receive this valuable book in such an excellent condition. The price was incredible. The best gift to receive for the new year and before Simchas Torah.

Chumash- this edition should be in every home.
The Hebrew text is the same all over the world but the commentaries in this edition are wonderful and very insightful .There are at least 3 commentaries on each portion and each page representing different scholarly views. Thought provoking.Highly recommended over other translations . If you have some basic knowledge of Hebrew or no knowledge it can guide you to what the text says. This edition should be in every home.

Love this edition.
I have the Stone edition of the Chumash, and have enjoyed it very much.(Torah) This one is a paraphrase and amplification of the Hebrew making the Word even more intelligible. I have not read the whole thing of course. It takes a long time to read one of these with all the commentaries. What makes it an enjoyable read of the Holy Scriptures besides being a paraphrase is the comments explaining Rashi and those of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, even some Talmud thrown in.
