Better suited for the job than many "Steel" Knives.
I've bet my life, on Cold Steel Knives, many times! Been carrying Cold Steel Knives for many years now, with a badge, and without, and I've never once, wondered, "IF" they would work when the chips were down and I needed them to save my bacon! In addition to their regular "Cold Steel" products, I also typically have one of the "COLD STEEL FGX NIGHTSHADE" on me when working. And their FGX Series of products are just as tough, just as durable as their Steel products. When carried in a sheath that "fits", you'll find the FGX Product line to be "sharp and pointy" when it's time for them to do their "job"! As long as they continue to introduce new FGX Models, I'll continue to happily make new purchases!

Great When Used For Intended Purpose
Some people don't seem to understand what it is they've purchased.This item is a plastic self-defense tool. It is intended for use in emergencies when other, more effective weapons aren't available. When used for its intended purpose, it performs well. The point is sharp enough to stab, and the edge is capable of ripping even though it can't truly cut. This item is perfect for sticking in the shower just in case because it will not rust.If you're looking for a training knife, an affordable metal knife, or something that has an actual cutting edge, this is not what you want.If you want a backup option or something to store in an area where a metal knife would rust, this is a great choice for self defense.

Overall a good training Item
The texture on the grip is much too aggressive for my liking, causing friction burn during even short training. It's much more pronounced than the live blade version of this item.Solved this with a little grip tape and it's now flawless. I can train for hours and it holds up to anything reasonable I ask of. It is excellent not just as a trainer for the live blade version, but a great trainer for Kukris in general. I expect it to hold up to years of use, which is a fantastic value for what you are paying.
