The door lock will not fit if installation instructions are followed. After cut out of the door per instructions the lock mechanism protrudes and will not fully seat. I drilled a 3/4 inch hole 1/4 inch deep 1 inch down from the top of the door cutout. This gave enough relief for the lock to fit in the door and for the locking mechanism to work. A chisel could be used to provide relief also. The lock itself was good. I would have given 5 stars if instructions had been correct. Installation itself was not difficult otherwise, but I had to return another day to complete the job because of faulty instructions.

This was bought to replace and existing lock that had broken. It is well made and looks good. From the instructions, I expected and exact replacement based on dimensions. The existing cutout dimensions on my door matched the instruction dimensions. However, the door lock would not fit into the existing cutout if the lock was unlocked.In the unlocked position, the internal mechanism would hit the back of the cutout.I used a Mototool with a grinder bit to carefully gouge out a groove in the door for the lock mechanism to fit. This was a bit tricky as the spot being gouged out was between the two wood screws that hold the lock in place.That being said, the door lock looks good, and works well. You may not have the same problem I had if you are starting from scratch. But if there is an interference problem with an existing cutout, it can be accommodated.

I ordered pocket door locks from several manufacturers hoping to get a good one. All of these locks for cheap pocket doors are basically the same crappy design, almost as if they are all made in the same factory. The differences are in the details.The Homotek (just curious, who thought this was a good name?) lock I got was almost identical to another company's version that I ordered. Like the other one, the metal for the face plates felt cheap, and they had apparently not had clear coat applied, because the surfaces were rough to the touch. The flip-out door puller had rough edges with burrs. I returned this product.

I ensured the dimensions on this lock perfectly matched the one I was replacing. The measurements and screw hole placements were identical.However, I found two issues. The striker plate was shorter than the original one. It doesn't look great, but that's not a big deal.The internal mechanism, though, pushes a quarter of an inch further back when closed. So when I installed the lock and tried to close it, I couldn't. The latch wouldn't retract all the way. This required me to take a Dremel and route out a significant chunk of the door, right up to the screw holes, in order to allow the lock to retract.

I bought two to replace the pocket door hardware in my house with the same dimensions, which was very helpful in identifying the right fit vs the others I was finding. They also look really nice and feel like good quality. They installed pretty easy even with having to flip the handles to reverse the mechanism to face the other direction. Mostly it works well, but the opening isn't very forgiving for doors like mine that have a lot of swinging play and may not always line up with the slot (I'll need something to help the door stay toward the middle of the opening). Also the screws for the jam plate protrude the slightest bit which increases the distance between the door and jam ever so slightly (I might try grinding them with a dremmel). One of our doors also doesn't appear to be square in our 20 year old house. The result is one of our doors will lock most of the time and the other doesn't really unless you lock it before you slide it closed.

When my husband and I redid our bathroom recently we decided to put in a pocket door because we hadn't previously had a bathroom door for our master bathroom and considering the layout of both the bathroom and the bedroom other doors wouldn't have worked for us. I wanted a lock for the door because we have children who have no concept of privacy. I can now lock my bathroom door while I'm taking a shower and the little monsters cannot make their way in. I wish we'd installed the door sooner.

Wish the instructions had said "Stop to see if you really need to router out the door frame" because I followed the instructions, routered out the frame to seat the latch plate and then found out that the latch cannot reach the plate because the sliding door doesn't close 100%. So I had to remove the latch plate and build up a cushion of cardboard to bring the plate back out to where it would have been all along if I had not routered it.

I bought this as a replacement of one that our kids broke the pull off of. It didn’t fit in the original space so I took it apart and only used and replaced the actual pull which was a little too big but I made it work. If you are going to use as a replacement, the outside measurements may be correct but the inside might be a different story. If know where your original came from (which I didn’t because I bought the house this way) then I would suggest buying from there to get an accurate fit.
