Very tough. Durable. Lots of space.
Very tough. Very durable on the outside. Holds lots of documents and pens. You won’t need to carry anything else. I take it with me anytime I travel. I do recommend keeping an eye on the latch because over time it will get out of its groove and now securely seal. Nothing crazy, just feels loose and you do have to push a little harder to make sure it latches.

Love it
Perfect size for a MacBook Air. My company one from my last job fit in there well and securely. It's a good conversation starter at conventions and long form seminars too. The dry erase board is nice too.

Alright product.
I'll start out by saying that many negative reviews are half correct and half misrepresented. I say this because many people believe they are buying a assa locking safe and clipboard. To start this review I will list the negative qualities first. Keep in mind I am still giving this product 4 stars. This is not secure. This is not made of solid metal. The lock will keep kids out and anyone who doesn't have the slightest idea of how a lock functions internally. It can be picked open in under a second. It can be brute forced open in a quarter of a second by a toddler wielding a plastic butter knife. This is a very thin MDF-like presswood with a laminated "for looks" sheet on the outside and a fabric material (without padding) applied internally with spray adhesive. The edge banding is constructed using a high gauge (thin) anodized or powder-coated aluminum or malleable non-hardened cheap steel. All metal (banding, hinges, locks, clip, and hanger reinforcement) is fastened using rivets (the "for looks" kind not the "for durability" kind). This is not designed to take a beating daily. I knew this from the product photos before my purchase. The one thing that I am entirely disappointed in is the texture. You will not get a smooth writing surface as the camo laminate is textured. To demonstrate this undesirable trait I placed a blank lightweight thermal receipt paper on clip and tested different writing utensils (see attached photo). Luckily I almost exclusively use gel pens and heavyweight paper so this is not an problem. An issue arises when attempting to affix a label to the surface of the clipboard (standard labelmaker print) because the surface texture inhibits the hermetic adhesion (see attached photo). The rubber bumpers are slipped on to the steel clip. This is an undesirable trait as they can become dislodged when attempting to affix a pen or any upsetting lateral or horizontal pressure is applied. Upon unboxing they were loose in the packaging. However, I have only had one other circumstance where this has become an issue. I use the clip with around ten sheets of paper interchanged 2-3 times daily, 5 days a week. Completely molding the bumpers around the steel clip after manufacturing (instead of post manufacturing/finishing touch) would be a nice improvement and prevent upsetting and/or possible loss of papers and bumpers). The only pen holder is contained within the compartment. There is no unmodified way of affixing a gel pen externally as they are typically larger in diameter. They do not fit well into the stretch band internally either. Given that they are the best writing utensils for this product with it's qualities, this is also a disappointing trait. When attempting to place a gel pen under the clip to secure it between the clip and paper, the affixed papers usually dislodge and end up all over the vehicle or counter. You cannot affix pens by the pocket clips to the finger handle of the clipboard clip as most plastic and metal pocket clips break due to the incline angle. It would be a nice addition if this included an outside pen storage option. The texture of this product might help with abrasion resistance, however it is more or less just a nuisance. All of this being said, I use this clipboard daily at work. It takes a little bit of a beating, and goes in and out of a jam-packed, non-padded leather/canvas backpack daily. The locking closure is the only effective securement of the compartment. I do believe the lock was added to make the device stay closed better instead of preventing access. The clipboard always ends up opening up on me when I grab it, however if everything contained internally is stowed in the mesh bands or under the hook&loop closure nothing falls out. Loose items do not do well inside. Smaller thin items can possible slip out as the sealing edges are by no means hermetic; they are constantly ever-so-slightly misaligned. The key is about as unsecure as it gets -- sadly I would say even 5 times worse than US handcuff keys and 10 times less durable. This is a simple locking mechanism that every single product is keyed-alike. For my usage the product performs semi-nominally. This product does not appear like it would be able to perform well in evironments that are moist, harsh, or where the security of the compartment is imperative due to its manufacturing and components. I do like the fabric inside as you can use the hook part of the "Velcro" (generic Hook&Loop) adhesive strips and attach items to the inside. You can use the inside strap for attaching belt clip items (Leatherman [or other generic multitools] in a case) through the holder and it will remain in place. All photos were taken after a few months of daily use.Durability: 3.5/5Looks: 4.5/5Functionality: 4/5Build Quality and Fitment: 3.5/5Manufacturing Component Selection: 3/5Storage Size: 4/5Storage/Compartment Security: 2/5I am not considering Price for Value in my final rating as it is ever changing however I would give that a 3/5 at most as I paid almost $30.

Vaultz Locking Clipboard with Storage
I got this to put my will stuff in. Everything fits perfectly in there so far ~ opens and closes just fine ~ I went through the will stuff I ordered with it ~ clipboard part works great ~ and now it's just sitting there because I haven't actually gotten a will done yet. So, I read the reviews before I got it, and I agree that it probably won't take a lot of abuse, but for writing on and holding my will stuff it's been great. I'm keeping it with several other binders and folders on the floor under my desk. It has done just fine with the little bit of knocking around it's gotten when I've gotten carried away with moving my feet, and other than the black really showing the dust, it looks like new yet.

Love these clipboard cases! So many ways to use them!
Love this case! I've had them in the past and always loved them! Works great for art therapy coloring (can easily store books and markers inside). I've also used them as a clipboard with a planner and important papers inside. So many uses, great for all ages (well, ages 5+ probably lol)

High price low quality
Overpriced for the quality. This is my second one since the first one’s hinge broke and the glue holding the black backing to the silver outline part came apart. We’ll see how long this one lasts.

PERFECT 'briefcase' to use if you work in healthcare!
As a clinician who works in the hospital, I am often running around between patients. I found myself needing to write notes/reminders for patients, carrying lots of paperwork including papers with PHI/PII (personal health information/personally identifiable information), needing my chapstick, etc. I didn't like bringing a purse with me as it's not as easy to disinfect. Furthermore, I am forgetful and if I leave a purse or normal briefcase behind, people could rummage through it in theory. I wanted to make sure I was HIPAA-compliant and protecting my patients' information. Therefore, I bought this since it has a lock on it!Coworkers tease me for it because it definitely looks geeky, but they also think it's very smart! It's definitely saved me a lot of trouble and worry. The lock works perfectly. I love the added shoulder/cross body strap and use it every time. The latch continues to work well. And the briefcase holds so much stuff, including my laptop!
