California Grape Leaves -Orlando 2lb jar, DR.WT. 16oz

I love dolmades with ground beef, lots of dill and avgolemono, but so far I have been unlucky with the grape leaves. I have tried many different types without much success. They are hard even after I pre-boil them for an hour and I would say about 30% are decent size with the rest of them being mostly unusable. These Orlando leaves are a godsent !!! I pre-boiled them for about 15 minutes just to be on the safe side and they came out very soft and very tasty. Maybe they only need to be blanched. I strongly recommend them. They are a bit more expensive but worth the money !!

I've been making stuffed grape leaves (dolmas) since I was a kid. These are the exact ones we've always used. I do wish they were slightly less expensive but I guess you get what you pay for. I double the batch of stuffing and still save some leftover. These are the best qualoty ones available in the US. The texture and size are the most consistent. The only negative is that the jar has a narrow opening that makes it very difficult to get them out. They wrap them together in 2 separate pieces so the forst one is really hard to wiggle out without ripping the leaves. Usually takes me about 5 minutes to remove them.

Orlando is my go to grapeleaves when making stuffed grapeleaves. Being that my usual retailer has recently closed I had to order some online. I see 2lb jar wow that's great! I ordered two for $12 something per jar. I receive the product to see that that are in fact ONE POUND jars and that being that they are not double the quantity I SEVERELY over paid. Like by double. I have no choice but to use them as I am out of time to find anymore. But I would not buy from this retailer again.

The leaves were large and uniformed. Been ordering for many yrs.

I make dolmades about once or twice each month. I have tried a number of different brands and always find these to be the most flavorful and the tenderest. They do not tend to unwrap themselves while cooking like some of the other brand's thicker leaves. There is a bit of a trick to get the first fold out of the jar in one piece especially if you have large hands.

The product worked for me as I stuff the leaves with meat and rice and cook low and slow.
