Many Good Features; Unsure of the Studiness for Remote Field woek
The palette was excellent, and the light weight was good for carrying to remote sites for Plein Air Oil Painting. I returned it without using it because another lady in my wife's Art Class has the same En Plein Air Pro system and one of the legs on the Tripod broke when it was 3 weeks old. Since my wife has to carry and set up in remote locations, we decided to look for the same type of set up with a sturdy tripod. Looking for a tripod made of a composite material; something durable and light enough to carry up & down rocky slopes and endure heavy loads for 5-10 years. The En Plein Air Pro, Professional set up in very good for class and most normal set ups; We are looking for something for remote field work.

Heavy and cheaply made
I love the idea of this setup and really wanted to love working with it. It packs up nicely but the backpack is incredibly heavy. I am a pretty fit 62 yr old woman and can handle it but I have steered others away because once you put your painting supplies, it can be a back breaker and cut into your shoulders. For $450, it should have wheels and a handle. Overall, it is made poorly. The easel has a system to tighten the canvas to it and one of those on mine is already stripped. I've only used this about 10 times. There are many other systems out there that are more efficient, lighter, and not falling apart. I wish I could return it but its too late. I assumed the price would ensure quality, but not on this one. On the other hand, I am getting my time outside, just not as easily as I would have hoped.

Don’t bother
Relatively lightweight but it blows over quite easily. It blew over on me twice during a painting session at the ocean. The side paint and cup holders are flimsy and loose and in a gust of wind fall off sending your brushes, medium and solvent crashing to the ground. The painting surface holder is a hassle to setup and keep straight. There is no place to store your painting materials (oils, brushes, medium etc.) so you have to add more options for carrying your materials. There is no accommodation for paper towels and again you must invent something to handle your cleanup options. All in all this is very expensive and problematic. I purchased for a Plein air class along the California coast and was most disappointed with its lack of versatility and sturdiness. A second painter at the workshop bought and brought this same easel as I did and theirs also blew over during a painting session. Way overpriced and inadequate. There are far superior options available.

Nice easel...
This is a good Plein Air Easel and works perfectly. But that being said, I wish they would make the slide out and rear hangers out of something other than plastic. It seems like it wiil hold up, but I believ a thin metal would worl better. It may add a small amount of weight, but at least it would be more sturdy.

Excellent
Actually what I expected except the tripod was sturdier than it looked in the photo. I use it for a live portrait class with a 5 minute set up time.
