Interesting Ingredient, Takes Advanced Preparation to Soak
This was a very interesting ingredient I had not tried before. I wish it came with more thorough instructions or recipe ideas. If you don't know for sure what you will use it for, it will take some leg work researching how to prepare it (with lots of soaking) as well as a recipe (no ideas are included) and preparation. I thought it was fun to try something new and because of how this is dried, it is shelf stable and lasts a long time. I think this could be good for thinking of longer term food storage.

I Am A Peach Gum Novice
This was the first time I had ever tried or experimented with peach gum. I had to read & do some research on the best ways to prepare it & with what other ingredients you can use with it. I decided to try in with a dessert & it was an interesting & surprisingly wonderful outcome. I added it into a smooth porridge type dessert & it added a fluffy, soft, gel like texture. It took a while for the preparation (several hours of soaking) but it was a surprisingly yummy outcome. Taste is mild & easily pairs with so many types of recipes.

A Fascinating, Jelly-Like Addition to My Kitchen Routine
I’ve been experimenting more with traditional and lesser-known ingredients lately, and peach gum definitely caught my curiosity. At first glance, it looks like amber candy or little resin gems, but after soaking overnight, it transforms into these smooth, jelly-like blobs. The texture is the star here—soft, bouncy, and really pleasant in desserts or even a mild soup. I paired it with dates and monk fruit sweetener for a light, healthy dessert, and the result was surprisingly satisfying and refreshing. The preparation does take some patience. You need to soak the pieces for several hours (I left mine overnight), rinse thoroughly, and pick out any bits of bark or debris. It's not difficult, just a bit time-consuming, and I'd recommend doing a smaller batch first until you get the hang of it.Flavor-wise, it’s almost neutral, so it easily picks up the taste of whatever you cook it with. I personally love it for how it adds volume and a fun texture without altering flavors—like a vegan gelatin, but naturally sourced. If you're into cooking with traditional ingredients or just like trying new textures in your dishes, this is definitely worth a try. It’s become a staple for me when I want a guilt-free dessert or a new twist on bubble tea.

No Instructions
This bottle didn't come with any instructions and I had to rely on reviews to figure out how to eat/use these. But maybe that's common knowledge for people used to seeing this used in recipes. After following the directions to soak the pearls in water overnight/for 12-18 hours, the pearls puffed up and became soft. However, they never quite got clean enough for me to want to use it in a recipe. It was said that they needed to be rinsed to remove debris and dirt, which I did multiple times throughout the soaking process. When they are still hard, it's very hard to rinse off the debris, as much of it is stuck in the pearls. After soaking, a lot of dirt came off, but there was still some left behind. I continued to rinse and soak multiple times during the ultimately 18 hour soak, but there was still debris/dirt embedded in the chunks.

Dried Peach Gum Tao Jiao
I ordered "Dried Peach Gum Tao Jiao"I’m so glad I read the comments before trying this because, at first glance, you might think it’s a hard candy and chomp down on it—but it’s actually a resin from wild Chinese peach trees! This beautiful amber-hued ingredient, often called "Tears of the Peach Blossom," transforms into a soft, jelly-like texture after proper soaking.Peach gum is rich in amino acids, including collagen, galactose, and rhamnose, making it a prized ingredient in Traditional Chinese Medicine for its skin and digestive health benefits. Some believe it supports intestinal peristalsis (this was actually really interesting to research), enhances fullness, and may help with weight control.Important Prep Steps:Soak for 8-12 hours until fully softened.Carefully clean out debris—since it’s a natural resin, some pieces may contain bark or impurities. If a piece is too dirty, it’s best to discard it.Simmer for 30-45 minutes before using it in desserts, sweet soups, braises, or even bubble tea toppings! One thing to note is that quality matters—higher-quality Tao Jiao should be clean and free from excessive dirt or impurities. Overall, if you’re into traditional Asian ingredients, this is a great addition to your pantry, but patience in prep is key

Wonderful Traditional Chinese Desserts
I'll be honest and say I hadn't heard of peach gum before, but ordered it because I do all kind of Asian cooking and love it. I honestly thought it is some sort of sweet peach-flavored gummies. Oh my, did I feel like a m.oron when I put that in my mouth..lol. I did ask Dr. Google who said its Peach gum is a hardened resin that naturally forms on the bark of Chinese peach trees. I then just took 5-6 small nuggets and added some filtered water and left it overnight.Next evening I looked up dessert recipes. Luckily, I had just ordered these giant Jujube dates. So I added a handful of date pieces, milk, and some monk fruit sweetener and that's all as I didn't have any Goji berries.Man, that combo tastes soooo good and completed my homemade spicy ramen really well. The peach resin tastes like jelly but takes on the monk fruit sweetness well, and the dates add your healthy fruity flavor. It was very filling too, and I believe Peach gum has a variety of health benefits and is used as a natural skin supplement that improves skin health and promotes a youthful appearance. Who wouldn't want that??? Excellent addition to my kitchen!
