Dap with Great features and functionally
Nice sounding DAP with a lot of features, I found it to work very well. The 4.4mm has good amount of power for my Sennheisher HD660 S2, as well working nicely with my KZ PR2 Ver 3. The buttons didn’t feel mushy at all and was responsive. The volume knob didn’t give me any issues. While I found the UI to be responsive and fast, there was times at random the UI would lag but I don’t know if it was the R3 or my very slow micro SD card that was causing it.Wifi worked pretty well without any drop outs, The hiby link function for copying songs over to the R3 II from my desktop worked very well, as long as you are copying over small amount of songs. Since the Wifi speeds only go up to 2.5G, its not fast enough to copy over large amount of albums. Its far faster either doing it over USB-C or using a micro SD reader to copy larger albums over.To my ears I found it to sound neutral which I found to pair nicely with my KZ PR2 v3,KZ Caster IEM’s and Fiio JT1 headphones. It was a horrible pairing for my HD660 S2 due to the R3 II sound signature as it made every thing sound boring. It size is very small and light, it easily fit inside pockets, even while inside the clear plastic case that comes with it.I found it works so much better then my old Fiio M7, so much that I like it over my old M7.

Solid Hardware, software is...good enough!
This device has brought me much joy along with some minor annoyances. The sound quality is as good as anyone really needs. I am not a huge audiophile by any means but I am sure someone who can appreciate a bespoke device for a specific task, such as an e-reader or a gaming handheld. Anyone who tells you getting a DAP and IEMs with a balanced cable is going to make your music sound amazingly better is full of crap. What this will do is make the act of listening to music more luxurious and comfortable. It is a pleasant feeling devices in the hands. Even the plastic case that comes with it fits so exactly so it doesn't significantly cheapen the feel. It has a lot of features, more than most people will need. It's balanced port is very powerful, at least to me as someone who doesn't have a bunch of equipment. I previously plugged my HifiMan headphones into my full sized 90s stereo before, so it feels very impressive that they actually work with this player. My phone could barely make them whisper. The battery life is OK but leaves me wanting. If you listen all day, you will need to charge at the end of the day, that is for sure. However, the software could really use some work. Like, a lot. The most important one is actually dangerous since as far as I can tell there is no way to set an upper limit on volume and the balanced audio port is extremely powerful on IEMs! Once I adjusted the volume with the nob and tried to swipe down the top of the screen to pull down the menu and accidentally tapped the visual volume slider to nearly max. That actually had me pretty shell shocked. What really doesn't make sense is you can set a limit in Hiby's android app. There are some issues with the English language on the device. Such as how the device "can 't" properly display contractions for some reason. I often find myself wrestling with the bluetooth. I'll turn the device on and it will connect automatically when I don't want it to, or I will have to try several times when I do want it to.I can't help but think of buying an iPod back in the day, and apart from having to deal with itunes the software was extremely polished. That isn't to say the software is all bad. Very full of features, just a bit jankey. In closing, unless you are someone with 50 pairs of headphones, this is good enough for you. I may have complained a lot but it really is a nice device

A great little MP3 player
As the owner of a previously-available R3 Pro Saber (still working fine), I think that the updated R3 II player is also great. I tend to use my MP3 players in a very simple manner, with a 512gB card and open-air wired headphones. The R3 II is small and comfortable to hang off on my shirt collar. The operational software is straightforward and works in a very reliable manner. The battery life is very nice, as I only have to charge the unit every couple of days when I use it for 9 hrs/day. I very much prefer to use the R3 II for my music instead of my Samsung phone.

Serious Problem with Bluetooth
First of all, I own many high end DAPs, Desktop DACs and low end DAPs for exercise. I need a DAP that I can carry around with balanced out and Bluetooth for my car stereo. This DAP has an acceptable sound quality out of the box for the price. MESB and EQ basically are just for decoration, no change of sound no matter what settings you set. I was hoping it will allow me to change EQ to my liking but it has 0 effect. What is worse is it has a crippled Bluetooth. It is able to stream with low quality audio files as long as it is 44khz 16bits. If you have any audio files higher than that, it throws error on screen and skips to next file. When this happens, you have to shutdown the device or it will continue to do so until it runs out of battery. Completely useless for listening via Bluetooth with this device. The drawback is also documented on Head-Fi. Hiby does not seem to care about this DAP with feedbacks from the forum so buyers should not care about this DAP. Do not recommend and do not buy. I'll return mine.Update: Bad Customer Service! Hiby insists that the design of the device is good and their engineers do not find any problems with Bluetooth so I ordered another one to test. It turns out to be exactly the same as the other one: NO BLUETOOTH! I purchased a lot of DAPs from Hiby out of past good experiences but this DAP is BAD. BUYERS BE AWARE. DO NOT BUY IT!
