I bought it on sale. A couple of notes...yes, you CAN turn off the sound (you might mentally thank me later). Yes, it does seem to work well. Yes, a child will probably break it eventually. Yes, it rotates 360 degrees, goes up, goes down, scoop works. The batteries do, in fact, recharge. That sounds like a pain as it limits playtime with the toy...but, did I mention it limits playtime with the toy? That can be a good thing. I suggest that the top screw could be left loose or even off, as the top plate does seem to slide into a slot....this could save some frustration over time. Now if I could just get my husband to let go of it.....
