Best Unifi access point to date
Ubiquity makes some of the best Wifi access points with great range and features. This is an enterprise class access point that requires some basic familiarity with such access points to set it up. I got this for home use and have it connected to a router. Works great with 802.11ac connectivity. Even though in general 5Ghz signal strength is poorer than 2.4Ghz as it does not penetrate walls as well as 2.4GHz, it is certainly superior in actual connection speeds due to higher bandwidth and less congestion coming from other wifi routers in vicinity. I saw throughput of 300-400mbps in practice, whereas I could just get 20-30mbps with my old 2.4GHz 802.11n access point. This also has a spectrum scanning feature which graphically displays the wifi channels congestion in your area. The latest Unifi access points come in various versions and this is the lowest end and least expensive - however it is the best bang for the buck. The higher versions only have features that are never needed in home use. The product came in original packing and was shipped fast.

One of the best Access Points in market today. Its pricey though!
This type of access only points have some critical advantages over the combined router cum AP models. The pros1. It focuses on one thing and one thing only. It has strong Wifi signal and can be mounted on you ceiling or walls. The ceiling mount is better for coverage. This model does not have MIMO capability. Where I am using it, there is a lot of WIFI interference and this AP ensures that I never get a dropped or degraded connection. Its internal hardware has good quality antennas and wireless chip sets.2. Mesh Networking and expansion capability. You can configure multiple units to enhance coverage and mesh them together where the second unit can be acting as a Wifi extender.3. Remote mounting with only an Ethernet cable. This unit uses the Power Over Ethernet (POE) standard i.e. the Ethernet cable acts as the power carrier also. So only one Cat5 utp cable with POE injector(included in kit) is enough to connect to AP. Very useful when you want to place this unit to give maximum coverage. I have placed it in the ceiling of at near center of my flat away from my broadband router with just an Ethernet cable connecting to it. Makes wiring simpler and easy.4. Extensive controller software that can run on your mobile or on a computer(windows/mac/linux). They also provide a hardware unit called Cloud Key which is preinstalled with the same software for plug and play use. For most small home users the mobile app is the best way to go. The software gives you usage and quality of service based traffic reports. the software can also be used to manage more than one of these devices along with other Ubiquity devices like edge routers etc. On key feature I found useful was the ability to scan for wifi saturation across the various radio modulation channels in both 2.5Ghz and 5GHz . We can then allocate the AP to work on the least saturated available channels to prevent interference issues and subsequent loss of speed on Wifi.5. Ideal if you depend on Wifi for multiple devices in a small office or home. If you devices like Wireless IP cameras etc this model has features to support them. The cons1. These devices are expensive. For the same price you can get a 802.11AC standard broadband router cum Wifi AP2. You need to have some technical understanding of Wifi along with radio standards knowledge to configure these units. If you are not a techy then this device is not for you. Else get the help of a qualified technician to setup. Your broadband router tech support guy wont help.

Excellent, Affordable enterprise grade AP for home use
Got this a month ago to cover my 1200 sqft house, was tired with bad performing consumer grade wifi routers. The unifi AC Lite gives excellent coverage with near full signal in every corner. It's easy to setup and forget - just keeps working!. The POE power supply is a good feature as you can avoid having a power adapter near the AP and can mount the AP at the centre of the house. I now have the consumer router just doing routing (wifi turned off) and this AP just does wifi, the AP is connected to a gigabit port so, my MAC backups over time machine run super fast over the 802.11AC wifi, The AP also helps move from 5ghz to 2.4 and vice versa depending on signal strength, In my use case The AP servers traffic to a chromecast, Apple TV and a few other devices with no signal drops and excellent streaming experience. Not many people know that you can run this in a mesh kinda setup with multiple APs across your home, clients can freely roam between APs. I am planning to get one for our ground floor to ensure better coverage and having a single SSID across the home.P.S - This is just a wifi AP, so you should have a router to which you can connect this to.

very good & beautiful product for home networking
aesthetically designed. looks smart on your walls. works its job very well. decent coverage. a beautiful alternative of usual rectangular boxes with multiple antennas. it will perfectly fit with decor of your room. i bought two of them. tried to buy third one but amazon refused! my house is big. i need at least three to cover the whole floor space.i am not buying in bulk to sell at another place. amazon should review their policy in some products.from technical point of view unifi controller is great. it gives you control in all imaginable ways. neat software, looks great too. few days back i bought tp-link access point but i ditched them. those were working fine. but unifi ac lite has beauty with brain. so got me hooked.Got my third one. I requested one of my colleagues to buy it. I paid him. Now I'm happy.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Not worth the money!Recommended for small rooms only.Airtel free router is better than this in coverage for my 2bhk.Won’t recommend.

Best wifi hardware out there for small offices and homes.
Had enough with all cheap wifi routers! This is the best!!! A little more difficult to configure. Will require a LAN switch/router to get this started. Not advised for non techies.

Finally, rock-solid Wi-Fi.
I am delighted with this piece of kit. After getting a 4K TV, we needed a 5Ghz Wi-Fi signal in order to deal with the higher bandwidth required for 4K streaming with Plex, etc.Initially I purchased a Netgear router with all the bells and whistles for £149, which turned out to be junk as it would refuse to allow any wireless device to connect to the network due to an unfixed firmware bug, so back it went. Then I purchased an Asus router for £89, and this failed too! 5Ghz network dropping... yet another firmware bug, still unfixed. After doing some research I heard about Ubiquiti's APs. Since all I needed was a 5Ghz network, I went against getting against a router. Instead of getting a device that's trying to do a hundred things at once, I went for this little device which was designed to be an AP and nothing else. What a great buy it's been. It has performed flawlessly, with great network speeds to boot. Wi-Fi range with 2.4GHz is much farther than before, and 5Ghz is more than fast enough to do what I needed to do. The only hiccup I had was trying to configure the device, as it doesn't have a Web-UI like most consumer-grade routers have, but you have to bear in mind that this device is designed for enterprise environments so it doesn't spoon feed you in terms of setting it up. I couldn't seem to get connected to it on my PC with their management software (which uses Java) so I ended up getting the Unifi app from the app store on my iPhone, which discovered the device instantly and allowed me to set it up with no hassle. It comes with a little power brick to provide Power over Ethernet, so all you can see is one cable running to it which looks rather lovely. I have it connected to a router running DD-WRT with the Wi-Fi radio turned off - couldn't be happier. No drop outs, no fuss.TL;DR - If you want a Wi-Fi signal that just works, get this little device! Steer clear of consumer-grade stuff.

Be aware - this budget product does not perform as advertised
On the surface this AP seems like the perfect solution for a 'pro-sumer' home network, it's got 2x2 867mbps AC performance at a great price point. However, despite some great tools and flashy dashboards in the UniFi system there is a real sting in the tail from this 'Lite' AP, which is the slow speed.Once I had this AP set up, I noticed that my clients were not reaching the download speeds that they used to with my old wireless router (Linksys WRT3200ACM). Some detailed tests showed the throughput would max out around 300mbps no matter what data-rate the AP claimed to be connected at (600/867 VHT80 rates). After some lengthy troubleshooting I turned to the Ubiquiti forums for help. Sad to say, I was met with some fairly blunt responses that confirmed this was the 'expected performance' rate for this budget product in their range and that Ubiquiti products are geared more towards reliability rather than speed. I was told to bascially just live with it, or buy a more expensive Ubiquiti product!I am very disappointed that Ubiquiti are misleading in their specifications, because otherwise the UniFi system is great and provides a really reliable signal. I returned this product to Amazon as it does not perform as specified. As usual Amazon Returns were great and accepted it back no problem. My advice is that you should avoid the AC-Lite. If you can afford a little more, the UniFi UAP-NanoHD is a much better access point. Otherwise, you can get better performance from other brands at this price point.

They look cool, they are small and inflatable adjustable with the ...
These really are the bee's knees of wireless access points. They look cool, they are small and infinitely adjustable with the free software. Warning: They are not plug and play devices, you have to have some network understanding to get the best out of them, but when you do, you can enjoy an impressive connection speed out of them. On my phone I get 180Mbps from fast.com when nearby on the 5GHz band - my phone's receiver being the bottleneck. As the specs say, you can get about 800Mbps speed from them, but only if you've configured them to do so. You will only get the impressive speeds from the 5GHz band, but the longer distance on the 2.4Ghz.The many modes make this a versatile product too. It can be a range extender, access point or a wireless network bridge if needed. The Unifi Controller software is easy enough to use. Device 'adoption' is fast and intelligent. You don't have to mess around with static IPs unless you really want to, the software just picks it up and gives it one from your DHCP server. One of the main selling points for me with these is the handoff capability, that is, when you move away from one access point and closer to another, that changeover is really fast and doesn't interrupt your browsing like normal consumer grade APs do.I use these both at work and home, and the price to performance ratio is the best there is in wireless networking. All Ubiquity networking products can be integrated into your network with a single powered ethernet cable and a few clicks with the software.I'm an IT technician and I wouldn't recommend anything other than this product for wireless networking.

Great wifi adapters
I have converted my home network to Unify and used these as Wifi access points. They look sleek, seem to work great, are very easy to adopt. There were some issues with updating them in older Unify controller software but since moving to v6 of the controller software they seem to update just fine. A tip for anyone getting errors while updating with the older v5 controller - cache the firmware in the controller first and then start the update - worked everyone time once I figured that one out!I have purchased two of these and they seem to have a very quiet humming noise. A little bit like some AC to DC power supplies except this is lower in frequency. I thought that maybe I have a faulty unit at first but then I confirmed that both units have that hum. After reading online it seems to be VERY common with these devices. The hum is really, really quiet, you only hear it if your ear is within 10cm of the device so it would only be an issue if you place it really near your bed or whatever which is very unlikely.

Good when they work
Good hardware let down by constant poor firmware releases. If you get these (or any Unifi product for that matter) find a firmware release that has the least issues and stick to it, review updates carefully before applying. I've seen updates cause my Lites to just randomly disconnect until power cycled. No real functioning roaming support either without fiddling with AP power settings. If you're a techy who likes to tinker and iron out any little issues, these will probably be fine for you.
