I got the medium sized version and it is PERFECT for coffee. I originally bought another brand that was more expensive, but caught my attention because they had thousands of good reviews.... but if there's one thing I've learned from ordering AT LEAST 2 items a day from Amazon over the past year (I might have a shopping problem), is that a lot of times there will be far better items of the same type, with the same number of review stars, yet there will be a fewer number of actual reviews and this product is a perfect example.The old school clamp gadget to keep the container closed and sealed off to air.... that's the key. The concept worked 40 years ago, and still works for today's products.... like this storage container."Don't fix things that aren't broken." Companies that keep things the same and have them remain "simple stupid" so there nothing new that needs to be known and/or learned before being able to use the product.... itll forever be what I gravitate towards when shopping in general.☆100/10☆

I love the canisters but the last one came with a broken scoop. You can chat with them but then they want you to pay a dollar to talk with the technician to help fix a broken scoope that it came with ??? What?! This is with the company not Amazon

I found this item from a review on Youtube. It does not hold a full pound of the whole beans I bought from my local roaster. The Gator does come in a larger size, which includes a travel-size container. If I had it to do over again, I would have purchased that package. It's just before Christmas--so the Gator canisters are discounted, making them a good deal.The seal on the canisters is tight--the clamp has a strong hold but is easy to open and close. The finish is a matte espresso brown/black and has not become scratched or scuff though I have it packed in tight with other items in my coffee cupboard. I have another canister with a bracket that sticks out for holding a metal coffee scoop. This takes up more room, and the metal protrusion may jeopardize my glass French press if I'm not super careful. Therefore, I like that the metal scoop that comes with the Gator canister is separate, and the sides are smooth except for the handle to open the clamp. I would love to have something like the airspace, but it's considerably more expensive. I chose to put my money into a really nice Timemore hand-grinder and have no regrets about that decision. The dial on top for date and month makes keeping track of freshness easy. Overall, it is a good addition for the price--and I would go for the larger size if you want to store a standard size bag of coffee beans.
