Another Lopez man has my heart 💞
Well, Lauren Asher has done it again…she’s made me fall in love with another Lopez man. First it was Julian, now it’s Rafael! Because let me tell you this book did not disappoint. I knew I was going to love it and that I did.Rafael and Ellie were both complex characters with many layers to them. It was so lovely getting to read their story and watching them slowly but surely break down the walls they had built around their hearts and open up to one another. They learned to be vulnerable, trusting, and eventually they came to realise that their vulnerabilities are not a weakness. They were both pretty broken characters yet the way they were able to reveal their scars to each other—both in a physical and mental capacity—was honestly one of the most heartwarming moments. Though one of the things I did appreciate was that even though they were growing to love and trust one another more, their insecurities didn’t magically disappear they each had to work on themselves first which they did and it made for a satisfying read. Now Nico is one of the cuties and funniest kids I’ve had the pleasure of reading; was such a thoughtful and compassionate character for his age, only ever wanting to see his dad and Ellie smile. In the beginning Nico and Rafael’s relationship is strained with Rafa being jealous of the friendship his son and Ellie share. At first glance you may think that the strain is due to Rafael first coming across as a grumpy single dad with a closed off and cold exterior, yet we come to realise that Nico is only distant from his father because he doesn’t want to upset him more about his developing condition. It was a very heartfelt moment when their father and son bond was reconnected.Overall, I loved this book and this couple even more. The book was beautiful written and paced so well. I so very enjoyed the characters pop-ups of Julian x Dahlia, as well as a sneak peak into the next books couple—Lily x Lorenzo. I hope that we get a Cole and Willow book. There was a moment which possibly hinted at it either being Willow—or Ava but I really hope it’s not her because in my opinion she doesn’t deserve a redemption arm right now. Willow and Cole were both interesting characters, I’d definitely love to get more background on both of them.——————📚 Book Tropes:- Small Town Romance- Single Dad x Nanny- Grumpy × Sunshine- Forced Proximity- Billionaire MMC- Summer Trip❗️Triggers:- Self-harm- Parental neglect- check tw before reading——————💞 Some of my favourite moment/scenes in the book:- Rafael kissing all of Ellie’s scars.- Him constantly referring to her as his “mi estrella”.- Ellie getting a hibiscus flower tattoo to represent herself, Nico and Rafael.- In the extended epilogue, the Mother’s Day scene between Ellie and Nico (had me crying).—————🌸 Quotes:- "I never want to go a single day without him because he is the one who inspired the greatest unwritten love song of all. Ours."- "Ellie looks over at my son with a blinding smile, and I swear my whole world stops for a second."- "These two are the center of my universe, and I plan on spending the rest of my life proving it to them every single day for as long as I live."

So much depth for a beach read ☀️whole story not set in Hawaii (see below) check trigger warnings.
⚠️Trigger Warnings ⚠️-self harm-child neglect (character back story)-child abandonment-compulsive behaviours-rape (characters back story)-fear of flying ✈️-eating disorderSpice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ( 3 sex scenes in the book but oral sex is mentioned explicitly in these scenes, phone sex )(Vacation to Hawaii 🏝️, childhood trauma, family, relationships, me too movement, adoption, small town vibes, song writing, hallmark movie, main male character rescues animals 🐐🐴🐑)Don’t be put off by the 600 page count it doesn’t read like a 600 page book the story flies by and no point did it feel like the story dragged. Reads more like a 300 page book. There was some great heart warming and heart breaking moments 🥹, I gasped out loud a couple of times. I laughed I cried , some moments that made me smile and some hard hitting topics too (see trigger warnings). I highlighted so many great quotes. The characters felt so real.Only a small part of the book is set in Hawaii the rest is more focused on their relationship, song writing and small town life - just in case you was like me and expecting the whole story set in Hawaii.I loved the holiday packing list at the front of the book (see photo)- really added to the theme of the book. I also loved the text message parts she included and that she had translations at the bottom of the page. Although I did find it a little distracting from the story when the character would change language halfway through a sentence then switch back to English.I’m so excited for the next book in the series I can’t wait!!!! 💍👰♀️🤵♂️🥰🥰🥰

Different yet repetitive
3.5⭐️I was looking forward to this knowing it was going to have the single dad trope.Whilst I did really enjoy it, there was just something missing for me. The trope I usually love didn’t quite hit the spot the same way it usually does.I liked that the book explored so many sensitive topics and made it different to other romance books in that way, but it did feel a bit repetitive at times. I think the book was a bit too long and I felt that while reading it.However, I did enjoy it overall and like how the story wrapped up.
