Q: Does this eliminate sunlight from entering a bedroom through a vent?

I think it should do. We used it on a vent from an extractor fan which used to fill with water when the wind blew the rain against the outside wall. For your application it may let a bit of light in from underneath but the vanes on the outside of the vent will most likely be angled downwards so it should be minimal if any at all.

Q: Is this a single unit or can you fix the outer part around the airbrick & clip the cowl part in during bad weather?

Mine was one single moulding with holes for screws in each corner. Once it’s in place it’s fixed, I’m afraid. Actually I have used two over the years - both the same design. One to keep the weather out (around an airbrick) and one to reduce the rattling of the vent plates around an extractor fan outlet. I hope this helps.

Q: the airbrick in my lounge measures 8.5" X 5.5". Is this 9" X 6" vent the right size?

Assuming the outside dimensions are the same, then it should be ok. When I fitted mine it was tight-the screw holes in the vent were right up against the edge of the air brick but as long as you are careful with the drill all will be well.

Q: Is it safe to install this cover on the cooker extractor grill?
