Not exactly the same but still the best sox ever made.
I have been wearing only these sox for at least 20 years I first bought them from the back of a Parade Magazine. It said 30 below sox and since I am cursed with freezing feet year round I bought a lot of pairs. It was love.Either HSN or QVC started selling them for years and I loaded up on them and then they disappeared. I never knew who made them. Finally I decided to look onaI have been wearing these sox exclusively for at least 20 years. They are designed thoughtfully. When you put them on you feel support around the instep, not a squeeze more like a hug. That is because they are woven to fit the contours of a human foot. Now that's different. The thickness is a little thinner at the curve where the leg joins the top of the foot eliminating fabric bunching especially appreciated in boots. They never slide down. And they are warm, warm, warm but don't make my feet sweaty.

Warm but not too warm.
I have two pairs of these socks and they are by far my favorite socks to wear during the fall/winter. These socks are perfect for me during a typical day that is 40-70. If the temperature dips down into the 35ish range, I like to put on an electric sock over them or a thin sock undeneath. These are the perfect balance of warmth, and thickness. My review is based upon wearing these socks with running shoes or athletic type shoes.

Great sock, don't believe the name.
This sock is truly wonderful in terms of comfort. I've used them as slippers around the house and for mountain biking in warm and cool weather. They were comfy in terms of fit and temperature in nearly all conditions. Nearly, because I took them out on a very cold night (for fall) -- about 35 degrees. My feet got cold. Maybe I would have been fine in pack boots but in normal high-top riding boots they didn't live up to the -30 claim. However, I have noticed a loophole. Their name is actually -30 below. Technically, that would be +30 above and so maybe they aren't so far off. For the pedantic reader that last sentence, while factually true, was meant to be humorous.

perfect boot socks
I like thick merino wool socks for everyday work wear, but they can be expensive and not particularly long wearing. These have just the right blend of Merino wool and nylon for comfort and long wear and I wear them through all 4 seasons. Keeps feet warm in winter, cool in summer and dry all year long. The price is the best you will find in similar products- I know because I searched far and wide.

Soft Warm Socks
These 30 below XLR socks are so soft and thick there is no way you could get blisters in them. They are probably too thick to wear with your normal size boots. I bought them big and I wear them inside the house because the floors are very very cold. The calf sometimes slides a bit (keep in mind I bought a size big) but the heel stays put and the sole doesnt bunch up. But thats in the house. I have no idea how these socks do outdoors. These are NOT knee high unless you are very short. If that is what you are looking for, you need to find a different style. They keep their shape and size in the wash. I would buy these again.

Cute, warm, but not THAT warm
I'll re-rate these socks after testing for wearability. They have stiff competition: my 30-below socks from VCS are now about 10-20 years old and my last pair is starting to wear out (the original maker from 20 years ago I sadly don't know, but the last three pair were Wigwam 40 below, sold here in Amazon also). Vermont Country Store is out of them. So, I came here. These (red) socks are nice but they don't look like they'll last. Trick: wash the wool socks in hot water so they will shrink (which means, you buy a size or two larger than you need, in the first place). This toughens them. Dry in the dryer, high cotton heat. Similar effect to how you make boiled wool, which is nearly indestructible. The wool becomes felt-like.That's what I did to my Wigwams, which after 10 years of constant winter wear, might finally be wearing through at the heel (well, the one remaining pair is still good). The socks become very rough, so maybe use fabric softener if you want them soft. Or, just care for them in the usual, nicer way. And either way, they will pill. If that bothers you, use a 3M's heavy-duty scrub sponge's scrub side to swat away the pills. Or, use a velcro hair roller, a Lola plastic scratchy sponge, or a Pumie (very lightly). If all you want is cushy socks, these fit the bill. Nice feel, look great. Whether they'd stay up on a man's leg, I don't know. Since I always buy sizes two bigger, they stay up on this female. They don't really work in -30 below weather, nothing does (you need neoprene or sock liners or several pair of socks in that weather). But they are good when the weather is just below freezing, and they are a great alternative to slipper socks.
