Mech Design Observations: The mount to the ARC rail is secure and is easily adjustable.Engaging the rotational keyways to mount the light is a bit tedious and risks breaking the tiny tabs.The tabs should have a longer angular cross section to make this item less susceptible to breaking those tabs.Function: The light is an admin light to read maps, documents or troubleshoot problems that are close to your face while maintaining low light signature. If you want a bright light on your helmet, you'll give your position away.For those who think the IR light does not work, step into a dark closet and look closely, it works. With NODS, one can clearly see when holding something in front of you.Cons: One will need to carry yet another type of battery.The size of the tabs detracts a star because it will limit the item durability. Everything else meets the requirements.

It does the job for melight is not that bright but perfect for close use

The red light was much dimmer than I expected.

Couple things I’d change about this product. First one press of the button turns on the white light. Press and hold turns on the IR. So if you want to get to red you have to turn on the white and hold the button down for red. Obviously the white light isn’t very bright but I’d prefer the red come on first then the white. Bad situation if you’re trying to get a low vis red light and a bright white LED turns on first. Kinda annoying in the field. IR light under nvgs is brighter than most built in illuminators so that’s cool. Other than that it’s probably worth getting a $60-$80 for consistent use.
