works and pretty powerful little computer
Since that RPi Zero 2w sold out at Microcenter and RPi 5 not available at that time, I decide to try out Orange Pi zero 2w which have more memory and processing power (quad core 1.4ghz). It's well worth money. The only thing I had trouble with variant of Linux (Arch, Debian, and Armbain and lastly Ubuntu). Tried Arch and it runs smoothly and quick, Debian runs good but screen bit blurry, Armbain failed to boot because it's for Orange Pi Zero, not Zero 2w. All 3 of Linux distros failed to download softwares that I need because server at "HaweiCloud.com" are lacking updates which needed for Orange Pi... Also Widevine will not install for Chromium nor DRM for Firefox.Because I want to watch Netflix (to test out how it runs on it). Lastly installed Ubuntu from Orange Pi download and ran good. Was able to get it updated and installed several apps except Firefox. I just found website that will allow me to install custom Linux with all options, https://uthings.uniud.it/building-mainline-u-boot-and-linux-kernel-for-orange-pi-boards .. Orange Pi will not boot Raspbery OS because of boot file are not the same. You will have to create or download one made for Orange Pi just like non-Raspbery signal board computer that have different chipsets, each of them have its own U-boot file.. Try download and install aarch64, not Armhf file. It runs on 64 bit. It will be great project to work on...

Works great! Maybe not for beginners.
The documentation search is kinda not the best, with ai they could redesign they’re site to make it user friendly, but on their website there’s a nice PDF on how to set it up, pin layout, etc.**when setting up you must have your monitor on and finish the setup guide to set your user and password!! I spent an hour looking for the default user/pw and realized I had to simply finish the setup lol!**I installed their OrangePi OS since DietPi did not work for zero 2 w. I mainly use this for headless, so it would be great if they had an OrangePI OS lite, because this one comes with a lot of extra crap! Overall orangepi is is pretty nice!Performance on this little guy is nice, and I think if I can find a lower resource OS this guy is a powerhouse. I needed a 4gb-8gb solution that is tiny and this should work.If support and website from orangepi improves I’ll definitely buy 1000 more for my project but I don’t know if I can commit to this company at the moment.

It CAN run Klipper, but...
...only on one USB C port. And you gonna need either a HUB or OTG cable in order to 3D printer's MCU be recognized by Klipper. There is color coded GPIO pin bracket...but if you want to power your board via GPIO, you need to have low power solder iron with the pointy tip...because IT IS NOT soldered to the board. Tedious job... but it can be done. The ONLY working OS image is bit outdated, and since this is not RPi, challenging to get up to date. When you overcome all the obstacles, Klipper works fine but OrangePi will ocasionally "forget" how to connect to a network...nothing that a few power OFF/ONs could not solve. All in all ...it works. Will I buy it again? NO! (or maybe, if it's like in $20ish price range)If you intrigued by Klipper and need a SBC to start; look further. Seriously.

Small works well.
I normally get the Raspberry, but I thought I would get an Orange. I have Ubuntu running on the very little board. It plays utube video just fine. I thought it might be slow, missing a graphic processor.I needed a very small board for a product and wanted to develop on the board. I also got an extension board that adds two more USB ports which I need to development. The two USB ports on the Pi Zero 2W, I cannot use because one I use for power and the other I don't have a USB-C cable. I ordered heatsinks but the CPU is just warm, probably because I am not working it hard. The Orange forum is not as large as the Raspberry forum. There is a learning curve.

No problem here on OS - fast and small
While I have only been able to work with it a short while, I did not have any problems with the OrangePi OS installation. Plan to test the Debian, Ubuntu and Android releases later - knock on wood those will be as smooth. Device is very quick to boot - intend to utilize it as a high performance IOT gateway and it seems like it will fit the bill. Would buy again at this point. Tried a Radxa Zero for same purpose and have been under whelmed by that. The OPi Zero looks much more promising.

Thin, works so far as expected
I had no problems at all. I used vendor Debian image and major brand memory card. I had this SBC running and showing FullHD desktop before I could get my camera to work :D My variant is 4GB, maybe it is faster than others because of that. Cable connections are a bit snug, one must be careful and sure to plug cables all the way. Product is extremely thin, about 5 mm. Remember to use quality PSU! I used the raspi with 5.1V @ 3.0 A and it was fine.

Defective - Overheats at default settings
If the 4g board just dies on you and feels really really hot with default settings, your board is defective. Got another one from another seller here on amazon, and it is stable. Looking around you will notice others having this issue so likely belongs to a bad batch.I would not say that is the seller's fault, but being aware of having a bad batch would save everyone lots of grief.

BE AWARE: This is not a substitute for Raspberry Pi Zero 2W
Make sure it fits your requirements, it does NOT support Pi cameras. The connector onboard is NOT for CSI-2. The software support is terrible, too. The official Ubuntu and Debian builds were still from 2023 (as in 2025). The community doesn't help much either since it isn't very active. Armbian seem to be the only option, and it works great. But again, this is not my choice if I need to use GPIO, I2C, etc. You are limited to the USBs.
